But...

While posting gaudy numbers in the minors, his rise has been met with
skepticism by many scouts because Cloyd rarely throws harder than 90 m.p.h.

Cloyd's strikeout numbers have dropped considerably in 2012 even as his success
multiplies. That suggests a great deal of luck. The theory will be tested at
Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday.

It was the beginning of a charmed season for Cloyd, who finally has a chance
to prove his doubters wrong.

2.DOMO跳過今日先發的原因

Manuel pulled Brown after it appeared the outfielder had trouble running down
a ball in the eighth. Brown missed the two previous games with a knee bruise.

“They asked me if I was all right and I said, ‘Yeah,’” Brown said after
the game. “Maybe they thought I was fibbing. I think I’m all right and
ready to play.”

Still nursing his sore left knee, Domonic Brown was given a second straight
break from the starting lineup on Sunday.

Brown thinks his left knee might be overcompensating for his right, which he
strained in mid-June while playing for the IronPigs. He may have bruised his
left knee from diving in the outfield or sliding into home.

"Nothing serious," Brown said before Sunday's series finale against Washington.
"It's just a little sore. That's it."

看起來是DOMO很想掌握這次機會急著表現而藏右膝的傷 (他大概也知道費城沒有太多時間
等他) 上MLB以來用左膝來cover右膝的結果就是現在兩隻膝蓋都出了問題...


3.Lindblom's adjustment

 After walking the only batter he faced on Friday night, Josh Lindblom stayed
up until about 3:30 in the morning studying video to try to pinpoint what was
wrong. He spoke with his wife, his parents, and even got a call from coach
Ken Howell, his bullpen coach with the Dodgers.

Lindblom ended up making a mechanical tweak on his shoulder rotation with the
help of Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee.

After adjusting how much he was rotating his shoulders in his windup, his
command was much improved on Sunday.

"[It] feels great," said Lindblom, the first 2012 Phillie not named Papelbon
to record a save. "Since I came over, I've struggled mechanically. I think
I've tried to maybe justify this trade and try to do more than I'm capable
of, instead of just being myself."

Following his first career save on Sunday, Lindblom said adjusting to a new
environment "was tougher that I made it out to be."

"I think that I was kind of pressing a little bit this first month," Lindblom
said."It's only one good outing. Now it's time to have that consistent approach
like I did and take that out each time."

大意是Lindblom想在這個交易裡向道奇證明自己，求好心切反而造成姿勢和控球跑掉這樣
希望之後他的控球是真的校正回來了...


4.Schwimer終於去3A報到了  但是...

The demotion did not sit well with Schwimer, who believed he should have been
placed on the disabled list because he had experienced biceps tendinitis in
the days before the assignment.

Schwimer’s arrival to Lehigh Valley was delayed because he traveled to
California for a second medical opinion on Monday. Neither the Phils nor
Schwimer’s agent, Jeff Borris, would comment on the findings of the second
opinion. Phils’ general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Schwimer was on Lehigh
Valley’s active roster, but was temporarily unavailable to pitch Wednesday
because he had an MRI on Monday.

5.Worley Having Season-Ending Elbow Surgery

RHP Vance Worley has been placed on the DL. He is scheduled to have right
elbow surgery sometime in the next 7-10 days.

最近的11次先發ERA高達5.80，7~10天內會動手術，還沒有說手術後需要復健多久

讓我們來回顧一下兩個多禮拜前球團之前是怎麼看待Worley的傷勢

Phillies right-hander Vance Worley is pitching with a bone chip in his right
elbow and is 2-3 with a 5.73 ERA in eight starts since the end of June.

So, naturally, a lot of fans have been asking if the Phillies could shut down
Worley for the remainder of the season, despite the fact that he maintains
the injury is not a factor in his recent struggles. The school of thought is
Worley could have a surgical procedure to remove the bone chips and begin his
road to recovery sooner rather than later.

But the Phillies said there has been no discussion about that.

"My understanding is the issue isn't going to take a whole offseason to
recover from," Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said. "As
long as he can still pitch and there's not a risk of him hurting himself ...
and from everything I understand, there's no issue there. He's pitched some
good games, he's pitched some bad games. You've got to remember last year was
his first time around. The second time around, you've got to make adjustments.
My impression is [Worley's struggles] are not related to the issue.

"I haven't been involved in any discussions whatsoever with shutting him down."

居然認為是Worley的二年級症而非傷勢影響...結果就是讓Worley晚了兩個多禮拜才關機
然後在外卡還有一點希望的八月到昨天為止讓他多炸了5場先發...

早在五月就被診斷出季末需要動手術了

Worley was diagnosed with calcium deposits, or loose bodies, in the lining of
his right elbow in May. He was expected to have surgery in the offseason.

但Worley表示
“It hasn’t affected me,” Worley said after Tuesday's game. “I’m just not
getting pitches where I need to get them. It’s all about pitch location.
That’s why I got beat tonight and pulled from the game.

“I don’t feel anything at all. I’m just having a tough stretch.”

6.本日最大條－追追請纓守三壘

A few days ago, Chase Utley approached Ruben Amaro Jr. and asked the Phillies
general manager whether he thought playing some third base in the future was
realistic. 

追追：如本  沒人的話以後我可以守三壘

Amaro's response? I don't know, which pretty much mirrors Utley's mindset on
the matter. But both sides are open to exploring the possibility. In fact,
Utley fielded groundballs today at third base and says he plans on doing it
again.

雙方都不排除這個可能，追追也在今天練習時站三壘練了幾顆滾地球然後說：我是來真的

"I thought it could be an option in the future," Utley said. "It's way too
early to have an opinion either way on how it's going to go. But I'm going to
take some more groundballs there in the future. But who knows what the future
has in store."

追追：雖然時機還早，但以後可以先從代班三壘開始

There are several issues that could be addressed by a move to third. First
and foremost is giving the Phillies an option to plug in at the position,
which features no near-major-league-ready players in the system and few
attractive options on the free agent market. If Utley were able to play
third, it could allow the Phillies to pursue a second baseman, although the
options there are slim (Blue Jays slugger Kelly Johnson, who has hit .221
with a .696 OPS over the last two seasons, is one potential free agent).

三壘洞目前農場沒有小朋友可以立即補上，FA市場也缺乏有吸引力的選擇
如果追追移往3B，我們就可以把目標轉往2B自由市場，例如...Kelly Johnson

"I think if I'm able to play over there it could create some more flexibility
as far as the organization is concerned," Utley said. "It may not. It's just
something I wanted to give a try."

The other issue is Utley's knees, which cost him the first three months of
this season and the first two months of last season. Third base requires less
pivoting and therefore could theoretically be easier on his knees. 

理論上三壘較小的防守範圍確實可以減輕追追那玻璃膝蓋的負擔

"I don't know," Utley said. "Today was the first time I took groundballs over
there in 10 years. It seemed to go alright, but those are questions I really
can't answer."

今天練球是我10年來第一次站三壘，感覺還可以

The big question is whether Utley has the arm to play third. That won't be
answered anytime soon. But both sides seem interested in finding out.

臂力會是最大的問題


BTW...連輸梅子兩場大概也代表著一點點第二張外卡的希望也破滅了
可惜外卡領先集團的近況都不太好，我們卻沒辦法趁機趕上，2012 season is end....
