Joe Dumars: I'm not running for governor

When rumors circulated a few weeks ago that he was being pursued by power
brokers in the Democratic Party to run for governor, Detroit Pistons
president of basketball operations Joe Dumars laughed off the suggestion.
數週前傳出乳摸，老杜被民主黨邀請競選州長
他一笑置之
But apparently, there was something to the rumor -- enough for Dumars to
release the following statement this afternoon:
但乳摸傳到他不得不出面說些話了
“I am flattered by and very much appreciate those who strongly believed I
would make a formidable candidate and an effective governor for the state.
But I am not a politician and do not have plans to run for public office.
While I certainly will consider new and different business opportunities that
come before me on the business front, my attention now is squarely focused on
the Detroit Pistons.
謝謝大家的支持，但是我不是一個政治家，也沒有打算參與競選
目前我的重心是放在活塞隊身上
"I love the state of Michigan and am optimistic about its future despite the
difficult economic times and immense challenges currently on our doorstep. I
wish the best to all the candidates running for important leadership
positions in the months ahead."
即使經濟不景氣，我仍對密西根州有信心，我愛密西根州
無論是哪位候選人，我希望他們都擁有重要的領導能力
It’s expected to be a difficult year for Democrats, and it was suggested
that Dumars’ popularity could attract voters.
今年對民主黨而言會是個艱苦的一年
會被建議由老杜出面競選，是希望能吸引更多的選票
Dumars is a political junkie and shows an intellectual curiosity that’s a
good characteristic in politicians, so the notion wasn’t as far-fetched as
some would think.
老杜是個政治迷，而且也有聰明的幽默感
對一個政治家來說，這是一個不錯的人格特質
所以也許他未來還是有機會參政也不一定
And with the uncertain future of the franchise -- with owner Karen Davidson
exploring a potential sale -- politics could have been an out. But Dumars
apparently never considered the feelers seriously and felt a statement was
needed to slam the door.
尤其是老闆娘打算拍賣球隊、前途未明的情況下
從政或許會是條路，但老杜短時間內不會認真去考慮這件事情
