BOSTON -- The sounds of backups Kwame Brown and Amir Johnson singing filled
the Pistons' locker room at the TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday afternoon.

And surprisingly, they were actually in tune.

But what was even more surprising was how the Pistons, who five days ago lost
their eighth straight game to move two games below .500, marched onto the
home court of the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics and showed poise and
resiliency in winning, 105-95.

contributions from many sources in their second straight victory and handed
the Celtics their fifth home loss on the season.

"It's kind of what we have been seeing from the guys and we just hadn't done
it for a complete game," Pistons coach Michael Curry said. "We had a couple
of stretches where they made some shots and we lost seven- and eight-point
leads a couple of times, but I thought we were focused defensively and I
thought we shared the basketball on the offensive end."

the field and 15 of 16 from the line), which got the best of Boston's for the
first time in four meetings, were all important.

In the three previous losses to the Celtics, the big men wilted against
withering defense.

much-needed balance and it was doubly important because the Celtics'
concentration on their strong-side defense leaves openings on the weak side.

The Celtics took an 89-86 lead with 5:01 left on a Paul Pierce lay-up, but
that's when the Pistons took command.

Maxiell's put-back gave the Pistons a 90-89 lead they would never relinquish.
They closed the game on a 19-6 run and the Pistons had their happiest
postgame locker room in some time.

They finished the tough five-game, eight-day trip with a 2-3 record, which
began by being demolished by the Cavs.

Curry was pleased, but when asked to assess the trip, he said: "It can be no
more than OK after the stinker that we did in Cleveland last Sunday."
