2. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons paid more than they wanted to in re-signing Chauncey Billups for
$60 million over five years at nearly 31. They paid more than they wanted to
in retaining restricted free agent Amir Johnson, who got a lot of money ($11
million over three years) for someone who has logged a whopping 163 minutes
in the NBA.

The view here is that Joe Dumars quietly has changed the dynamic of his team
more than people think. It's not the overhaul lots of us were calling for

Stein Line favorite Jason Maxiell and rookie guard Rodney Stuckey form a
promising trio of kiddies to mix with the Pistons' veteran mainstays.

Detroit might be fresher and deeper than anyone imagined after that meltdown
in the East finals.

"You can't say this about a lot of guys here, but I think Stuckey's stuff
translates [to the NBA game]."

Espn's Marc Stein ranked the East's offseason. To nobody's surprise, he gave
the top spot to the Celtics. But the second best offseason? That was given to
the Pistons.
Stein為東區的季外做了排名，毫無疑問塞爾提克拿了第一。但第二名？給了活塞。

Really? The same Pistons who humiliated themselves with a historic meltdown
against the Cavs in the ECF? The Piston's whose President of Basketball
Operations promised changes after the season and went on to have a completely
un-news worthy offseason?
真的？那個在東區冠軍戰被騎士打得慘敗讓自己蒙羞的活塞？GM在季後誓言要做改變
但卻幾乎沒什麼值得一提的新聞的活塞？

What moves did they make again? Oh, right they traded away Carlos Delfino. He
was such a integral part of their squad. The loss of Delfino surely will
shake up their dynamic.
他們做了什麼？哦對，他們把Delfino交易掉。失去Delfino會讓他們少了些活力。

Seriously though, they resigned Billups for a cool $60 mil, and added a nice
player in Rodney Stuckey. Is that really the paradigm shift that was needed
on this squad?

Right... Where it says "quietly changed the dynamic of his team," read "sat
on the couch and twiddled his thumbs."

When your team is defined for its coasting through games/series and then
"flipping the switch," unless you have a player by the name of Michael Jordan
on your roster, something major needs to change. Wallace dropping 25 pounds
doesn't make him any less of this guy and, although Stuckey and Maxiell are
nice pieces and will help out, they are not the swift kick in the groin that
this team desperately needs.
當你的球隊在比賽/系列戰中一帆風順接著突然全部翻盤，除非你有個叫Michael Jordan
的球員，不然是需要大改變的。Sheed瘦了25磅但他仍是那個會被驅逐出場的火爆老頭子
，雖然Stuckey和Maxiell都能對球隊有所幫助，但他們卻不是這個球隊最需要的球員。
