People, do you really need to hear these insipid in-game sound bytes from
coaches and players who are wearing microphones to enjoy the game?

Smith as he's running off the field at halftime, have you ever gotten anything
entertaining or educational out of an on-field interview with a coach?

This is garbage, and we all know it.

The NBA is the latest to buy into this notion that the key to beefing up
sagging ratings is to allow viewers to get "inside access." They think by
having coaches and players wear microphones during games, they are allowing
fans to eavesdrop on what's really going on.

once a microphone is on a coach's lapel or on a player's jersey, reality is
altered. There is a filter there and every player, coach and referee is aware
of it.

Have you seen those baseball shows where a coach or a player is wearing a
microphone? Players stay clear of him. You can see people walking away when the
guy approaches. They either walk away or stand mute in his presence.
