Pistons coach Flip Saunders didn't expect to need Theo Ratliff so soon.
    活塞教練老桑並未預料到這麼快就會動用到Theo Ratliff。

Then again, Saunders didn't expect to have starting center Rasheed Wallace
sidelined with a sprained left ankle.
    另一方面，老桑也沒料想到先發中鋒溪蛙會因為左踝扭傷而高掛免戰牌。

Ratliff has made a strong impression on the coaching staff. He started the
first two games in his second stint as a Piston, and the 13-year veteran has
averaged 7.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 24 minutes.
    Ratliff的表現已經讓教練團留下深刻的印象。這位已經有13年經驗的老球皮在二度披
上活塞球衣以來先發的兩場比賽中，平均上場24分鐘，攻得7.5分、拉下6.5個籃板並送出
2.5記麻辣鍋。

"I think he's exactly what we thought he was, and I think that he's going to be
a big, big plus for us," Saunders said.

After appearing in only 10 games before the Pistons signed him March 4, Ratliff
said he has felt rejuvenated in his short time here. He feels blessed to be
reunited with strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander, who is helping
Ratliff regain the strength in his surgically repaired right knee, which was
operated on Dec. 18 to repair a torn meniscus. Ratliff rehabbed the knee for
two months and said he's pain-free.
    在3月4日被活塞簽下前只上場了10場比賽的Ratliff表示，雖然重回汽車城的時間還不
長，他已經有返老還童的感覺。他感到很幸運，能夠再次和體能教練Arnie Kander合作。
在他幫助下，去年12月18日曾接受右膝半月板修補手術的Ratliff漸漸找回了健康。
Ratliff花了兩個月的時間復健，並且表示右膝不再疼痛了。

"As I said, it's going to be real scary once I get my full health and once I
get my legs up under me," Ratliff said. "It's going to be a surprise to a lot
of people throughout the league."

Today is Ratliff's first practice with the Pistons. But already, he said, he
has felt comfortable on the floor with the rest of the regulars.

Ratliff said the Pistons often have improvised when he's on the court, so the
fact Ratliff has blended in shouldn't be a surprise. Ratliff is finally playing
on a veteran team. Past teams of which he has been a part -- like Atlanta,
Portland and Minnesota -- have been loaded with younger players who lack
maturity and court awareness.
    Ratliff說活塞在他上場時時常有即興演出，所以說事實上Ratliff已經順利融入球隊

"The game is so easy right now," Ratliff said. "And these guys do a great job
of seeing things, and they're doing a great job of getting the ball to me when
I'm flashing in the middle. When I can catch the ball four or five feet from
the basket, I can score that easy. So I look forward to just continue playing
with these guys, continue growing with these guys; just continue to push
forward."
    "球賽現在變得很輕鬆，"Ratliff說。"這些傢伙觀察力都很好，他們在我閃身殺入禁
區時總能適時將球傳到。當我在距離籃框約4、5呎的地方拿到球就能輕而易舉地得分。所

Added captain Chauncey Billups: "It's been a long time since I've seen other
guys come in the paint and be looking for somebody like, 'Dang, where's he at?'
Some of them he blocks, some he doesn't. But he's always on the right coverages
defensively. ... When he gets the opportunity to score, he's doing that. He's
getting us extra opportunities, offensive rebounds. Great, great, great
acquisition."
    隊長槍蜥也補充："我已經很久沒看到像Ratliff這樣守護禁區、尋找敲火鍋機會的人
了，'幹，那個會蓋鍋的傢伙在哪？'當然有時候他能送出麻辣鍋，有時候沒有。但他防守
時總能出現在適當的位置...當他有機會得分時，他也能把握機會。他搶下的進攻籃板也讓
我們有二次、三次進攻的機會。他的加入對我們來說實在太棒，太棒了啦！"
