PHILADELPHIA -- Ask the casual NBA fan to name the leading scorer for the
Lakers, Cavaliers, Heat, Spurs, Mavericks, Nuggets or any other elite team and
most likely you are going to get the correct name -- Bryant, James, Wade,
Duncan, Nowitzki, Anthony.
    費城訊 -- 隨便問一個NBA球迷在湖人、騎士、熱火、馬刺、小牛、金塊或聯盟中任何
一支一級強隊陣中場均得分最高的球員是誰，通常你都會得到正確的答案 -- Kobe、LBJ、

But ask the casual NBA fan outside Michigan who the Pistons' leading scorer is,
and you are liable to hear any number of names.
    但隨便問一個家不住在密西根州的球迷說誰是活塞陣中場均得分最高的球員，你應該
會聽到許多個名字。

"Most people would think it's Chauncey Billups, or maybe Rasheed (Wallace),"
said John Hammond, vice president of basketball for the Pistons. "Isn't that
something?"

It is something, considering only one player has led the Pistons in scoring the
past four seasons and is leading them this season -- Richard Hamilton.

like they've scored 30. You watch me play and I get 30 and it seems like 12 or
14."

21.5 shots. By contrast, Hamilton is getting 17.5 shots to score his 22.8. He

10,000 career points.

Killing you softly might make for a nice song title, but as a motto, it doesn't
generate a lot of buzz. Which is why, for all his efficiency and production,
Hamilton is an afterthought in the All-Star Game balloting. At last count, he
was 10th among Eastern Conference guards, behind players such as Steve Francis
and Stephon Marbury.
    溫柔地殺死你或許會是一首好歌的歌名，但用作座右銘，反而不會得到太多的關注。
這也是為什麼以他在聯盟中名列前茅的得分效率及產能，RIP總是在全明星賽的票選中得不

"I just learned to play the game the right way," Hamilton said. "I move without
the ball and try to get easy baskets. I always try to stay in rhythm with my
team. The way I get my points, the team still plays the same way. We are always
in rhythm."

"I would talk to Rip -- because I played a lot like he did -- that I was always

when and when not to use your speed, and just be efficient. We used to always
look at points per shot, and in that category, Rip has always been one of the
best."

Collins said he isn't the least surprised to see Hamilton evolve from a
one-dimensional scorer into a complete player.

"He's a champion," Collins said. "He won a championship at Connecticut, and he

Taking charge

Hamilton this season has played through elbow, knee and ankle pain and
continues to rank second to Tayshaun Prince in minutes played. Hamilton often
is assigned to guard the opponent's best perimeter scorer, be it a point guard
or shooting guard, and has made himself into a very pesky defender.

"The team is looking for me to be aggressive, but stay poised and play to the
tempo of the game," Hamilton said.

"With Chauncey out there, he controls all of that. He knows when to speed us up
and when to slow us down. I guess I am trying to do both.

"Having Chauncey, he makes the game so easy for me. He knows where I am on the
floor and things like that. Without him, I am making more moves, trying to get

But Hamilton has answered the call, averaging 26.8 points in four games without
Billups.

Slowly but surely, Hamilton is starting to gain attention. He was selected to
his first All-Star Game last season and was courted by the U.S. men's team,
though he turned down its tryout invitation because of prior commitments. He
also has had a fairly steady stream of national and local endorsement and
commercial gigs.

But Hamilton's brilliance never is going to be shown in the same spotlight as
players such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony or even Arenas. And
Hamilton's OK with that.
    但RIP的明星光環從來不會像LBJ、典韋、甜瓜或甚至Arenas那麼耀眼，那樣光芒四射
，而且他對於這樣的情形也已經習以為常了。

"If you win, good things happen for you," he said. "I am never going to change
how I play for anybody.

"There are a lot of kids out there who come up to me and say, 'Yo, I really
admire what you do on that court.' I would rather kids admire me for playing my

→ RAYBO:演出~ 雖然Rip投進不少壓哨球 但有很多球的處理可以更好...

推 RAYBO:其實RIP一直都有一定比例的單打啊...只是因為比較少看到
→ RAYBO:所以看到後都會比較印象深刻 但整體來說還是空手跑動為主
