Chauncey Billups has a saying about these kinds of games. Best thing to
do, he says, is to wash it all away in the shower and forget about it.

The Houston Rockets battered the Pistons around the Toyota Center for 3 1/2
quarters Thursday and walked away with a 91-85 victory. Don't let the score
fool you. The Pistons didn't start fighting back until the final eight minutes.
By then they were down by 18.

"Once we started fighting, we became the aggressor and we had them on their
heels," said Billups, back after missing two games because of a sore left
groin.

scored seven and the Pistons went on a 14-4 run that had them within 86-82
with 2:41 left.

The Pistons' rally ended there, however. A runner by Rafer Alston, a jumper
by Tracy McGrady, and the Pistons ended the game like they started it --
missing five straight shots.

"We fell behind so quickly that we started to play out of character," coach

Billups, who was tentative early, finished with 13 points and six assists.
Richard Hamilton played despite a sore right thigh but was ineffective, with
12 points on 6-for-16 shooting. Hamilton, frustrated at not drawing any fouls
in 31 minutes, picked up his 13th technical,--3 shy of a one-game suspension.

It was the Rockets' fifth straight victory, and it stopped the Pistons' road
winning streak at six, one shy of the franchise record. It also stopped the
Pistons' six-game winning streak against the Rockets.

The Pistons missed their first seven shots, didn't score for the first 4:15
and fell behind 16-2.

It was an uphill struggle from that point on.

"They are a good defensive team," Billups said. "They pack the paint and make
you shoot jump shots. If your jump shots aren't falling, it makes for a tough
time."

Webber, who managed six points and seven rebounds. "But this one is going to
