AUBURN HILLS -- The pregame instructions from Pistons coach Flip Saunders on
Tuesday were direct and to the point:

The Pistons accomplished both missions, closing out the home portion of the
regular season with a 100-84 victory. The Pistons end the regular season
tonight at the Boston Celtics.

Tuesday night's game was virtually meaningless, more of an exercise to be
endured.

high.

The lead swelled to as many as 26 points, and the Raptors didn't seem inclined

The second half degenerated into lackluster basketball, as neither team showed
much inclination to exert itself. The Palace crowd was equally unmotivated,
turning the arena into an atmosphere suitable for quiet, uninterrupted
meditation.

Wizards and Nets are fighting for the sixth, seventh and eighth positions in
the East.
