AUBURN HILLS -- Rasheed Wallace would never admit this because he wouldn't
ever want to come off like he was disparaging a teammate.

But the truth is, Chris Webber saved his season.

For a host of reasons, the combination of Wallace and Nazr Mohammed didn't
work. Some of that was on Wallace -- he took a long time to get into shape
and then was slowed by nagging injuries. Some of it was on Mohammed -- he
didn't provide enough of a presence and teams could overload onto Wallace.

The Pistons are 37-12 since, including 7-0 in the playoffs.

"Rasheed was really rejuvenated when Chris signed," coach Flip Saunders said.
"He had another great passing big man to play off of."

Wallace is averaging 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, numbers that
don't come close to explaining his impact.

"We're just all feeding off his energy right now, man," Chauncey Billups
said. "I always said, when 'Sheed is playing like this, we're almost

Wallace's defensive presence has been the difference in the postseason. He
had five blocks in Game 3, and has been altering shots and discouraging the

defensively, Chris knows where he's supposed to be, and 'Sheed really plays
off of that."

With Webber, defenses have to play Wallace more honest. He isn't seeing an
opponent's best defender all the time. The Bulls, for example, would like Ben
Wallace to guard Rasheed Wallace full-time. When they tried that in Game 2,
Webber scored 22.
有了威霸，溪蛙面對的防守變得輕鬆很多。因為溪蛙不用一直面對著對方最好的防守者
。以公牛為例，如果班蛙盯緊了溪蛙，就像第二戰公牛的策略一樣，那威霸就會毫不留
情的撕裂公牛的防線，那場比賽威霸拿了22分。

"Chris' presence has helped everybody, but it's really helped 'Sheed,"
Saunders said.

The difference: Before Webber's arrival, the Pistons thought they
mightcontend for a championship. With Webber, they knowthey're contenders.
