AUBURN HILLS -- Pistons coach Flip Saunders tends to stress a bit when
circumstances in games prevent him from using his bench as much as he would
like.
    奧本山報 -- 活塞教頭F.Saunders傾向在戰況看似不允許的情形下也試著將一些責任
分擔在板凳球員身上。

"The toughest thing for me is these guys all practice hard and give me
everything I ask of them, and you want to reward them," he said. "And the way
you reward them is by giving them an opportunity to play."
    他說"對我而言最難以面對的問題就在於他們都很認真練習並盡力達到我的要求，所
以你會想有所回報，而所謂的回報就是讓他們有上場證明自己的機會。"

Either because of matchup issues, or game situations, or because a starter or
two or three had an extremely hot hand, reserves Carlos Arroyo, Carlos Delfino,
Maurice Evans and Darko Milicic didn't get off the bench much in the last two
games.
    不管是因為賽程、比賽情形或因為1個或2個甚至3個先發球員的手感正熱得發燙，包
括C.Arroyo、C.Delfino、M.Evans和D.Milicic等板凳球員在過去2場比賽並沒有分到很多
的上場時間。

"Sometimes you get into situations," Saunders said. "When you have games on TNT
or ESPN (three of the first six) where you get four-minute timeouts. It's like
playoff games. That's why you see teams playing only seven or eight guys in the
playoffs. You have so much more rest built into the games."
    Saunders說"你有時候會遭遇這種情況。如果比賽正藉由TNT或ESPN電視台進行現場直
撥(球隊前6場比賽有3場是如此)，每一次強制暫停就能獲得4分鐘的休息時間，那感覺起
來就像是在打季後賽，而這也是為什麼你會在季後賽時看到球隊可以只動用7到8名主力球

Since producing 42 points and 24 rebounds in a rout of Toronto, the bench has
averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds in the last three games.
    活塞隊的板凳球員們自從大敗多倫多那場比賽爆鉅量貢獻了42分及24個籃板之後，最
近3場比賽平均僅能提供16分及12個籃板。

Saunders is hoping to rectify that, beginning Tuesday against the Celtics.
    Saunders希望自禮拜二與塞爾提克的比賽開始調整、修正這樣的情形。

First of all, Saunders noticed that Ben Wallace was especially fatigued playing
in Portland on the back end of back-to-back games. Saunders' plan for Tuesday
is to bring Milicic in early, in the first quarter, to give Wallace a few extra
minutes of rest.
    首先，Saunders注意到班蛙在打完連續2場比賽的第2場於波特蘭對上拓荒者的比賽後
顯得特別疲累。對於禮拜二的比賽，Saunders的計畫是讓小米粒提早在第一節就上場磨練
，讓班蛙有更多的時間待在板凳上休息。

"Darko's going to get back in there," Saunders said. "He had some bad matchup
situations (against Phoenix and Portland)."

Saunders said Milicic has remained diligent and productive in practice,so there
was nothing punitive about his lack of playing
    Saunders說小米粒在練習時依然保持勤奮並具有生產力，所以除了缺乏正式比賽的經
驗外，沒什麼好苛求的了。

"No, he's been good," Saunders said. "It's just how the games have gone.We need
to get Ben some rest. He was really tired in Portland. So, we will get Darko in
a little earlier."
    Saunders說"不，他一直都很好，只是過去的比賽中上場時間受到限制而已。班蛙在
波特蘭那場比賽真的很累，我們必須讓他有一些時間休息，所以我們會讓小米粒早點上場
替補班蛙，藉此也能讓他多累積些實戰經驗。"

Secondly, Delfino continues to impress in his short stints, and is gaining on
Evans for that eighth spot in the rotation.
    第二，Delfino持續在改善自己的缺點並在爭取球隊第8人的角逐賽中領先了Evans。

"Carlos is a guy we can put on bigger (shooting guards or small forwards),"
Saunders said.
    Saunders說"Delfino是一個可以打得分後衛或大一號位置小前鋒的球員。"

"He has been effective there, and he puts some pressure on them at the other
end. He had a good road trip."
    他打那兩個位置都很有效率，而且在防守端也能讓對手感到壓力。在客場的比賽，他

Delfino contributed four quick points and a rebound in seven minutes at Phoenix
. He was very effective slowing down a red-hot Darius Miles in Portland the
next night.
    在鳳凰城舉行的那場比賽中，Delfino僅上場7分鐘就以極高效率得到4分並抓下1個籃
板，第二天晚上於波特蘭舉行的比賽中也讓手感火熱的D.Miles迅速降溫。

"I just want to help this team," Delfino said. "I want to show the guys I can
be there for them. Whatever the team needs, that's what I will do. I just want
to show the guys I am ready to help."
    Delfino說"我只是希望可以提供球隊幫助，我想讓隊友們知道我有在場上為球隊爭取
勝利的能力。不管球隊的需求是什麼，我都願意去做，我只是想讓隊友們知道我真的有那
個能力。"

There's a good chance Delfino will have the opportunity to chase Paul Pierce
around Tuesday. Pierce scored 28 points, hitting 10 of 18 shots, in the first
meeting.
    禮拜二的比賽，Delfino將有機會藉由負責防守P.Pierce來展現自己的防守能力，
Pierce在他們本季第一次遭遇的那場比賽中以投18中10，突破5成的高命中率得到28分。

"Even though Carlos played limited minutes, the time he was in he was extremely
productive," Saunders said. "When you do that, the players gain confidence in
you and the coaches gain confidence in the players."
    Saunders說"儘管Delfino的上場時間受到限制，在有限的上場時間中他依然能把握機
會盡力表現。當你這麼做時，隊友們對你的信心會增加，教練也會對你更有信心。"

Even though the bench minutes have been down, no Pistons starter is averaging
more than 37 minutes.
    即使板凳球員們的上場時間不多，球隊5位先發球員的平均上場時間也都沒有超過37
分鐘。

It should be noted that even though some playing time has been cut, none of the
bench players are griping.
    有一點也值得注意，雖然上場時間不多但也沒聽到任何一位板凳球員有什麼怨言。

Granted, it's tough to complain when the team is 6-0, but Saunders believes
it's more about character.
    雖然在球隊戰績是6勝0敗的情形下硬要找出缺點像是吹毛求疵，不過Saunders相信球
員有正確的心態是更為重要的。

"Before we played Phoenix, Antonio McDyess came up to me and said, 'Coach, I
know I used to play here and all, but don't feel like you have to play me a lot
. I know they go small and you want to play Tayshaun (Prince) some at the four
(power forward) to match up with them. I understand.'" Saunders said."That says
something about the mindset of the players.
    Saunders說"在我們與鳳凰城進行比賽前，A.McDyess跑來對我說'教練，我知道我過
去不管在這或其他地方都有很多的上場時間，不過我並不認為這場比賽你需要把我擺在場
上很長一段時間。我知道他們打的是小球戰術，你也會希望讓T.Prince在4號位置(大前鋒)
分攤一些時間以便配合他們的隊形和戰術，我可以理解。'這正說明了這些球員的心態是
相當正面且正確的。"
