Saunders makes smooth transition; Brown, anyone?

AUBURN HILLS -- Normally, you never want to replace a legend.
Just ask Rick Rizzs and Bob Rathbun. Or Dave Lewis.
You normally want to be the guy who replaced the guy who replaced the guy.
That way, you won't face the pressure and scrutiny that come from not being as
great as the guy who preceded you.

奧本山-正常情況下，你不會想取代一個傳奇。

Enter Pistons coach Flip Saunders.
Though Saunders understands he ultimately will be judged on how well the
Pistons do in the postseason -- after all, this team has been to the NBA Finals
the last two seasons -- he could not have had a better transition taking over
for Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown, now with the Knicks.
The Pistons are 7-0, the third-best start in their history, and the only NBA
team without a loss.
Their torrid start has made fans, at least for now, forget Brown. Local
sports-talk shows haven't gotten any "you made a mistake letting Brown go"
calls.

    Saunders當然知道他遲早會在活塞於季賽的表現上被打分數(畢竟這隻球隊已經連續闖進前兩年總冠軍賽了)，而他的確做得比現在在尼克隊的名人堂前教練Larry Brown好上加好。
活塞現在戰績7-0，隊史第三好的開賽成績，同時也是NBA唯一還沒輸的球隊。他們暴走
的開始已招來更多球迷，至少對現在來說。忘了Brown吧，當地的體育脫口秀節目還沒有
任何關於"讓Brown走是個錯誤"之類的話出現。

"You couldn't write a script better than that," guard Chauncey Billups said.
"For him to take over a team like ours, him having a pretty complicated system
and us picking it up so quickly and just really thriving, it's a dream start
for Flip."

Early challenges
Saunders, who coached the Timberwolves for 9 1/2 seasons before being fired
last season, knows how blessed he is.
"It's very difficult in the beginning of the year to start and run a string of
six or seven games," he said. "You're not in the shape you want to be in, there
are injuries, the way the travel is, and you haven't played many back-to-backs.
"I think more impressively, it's not that we're 7-0, it's where we've played.
We're 4-0 on the road."

先來的挑戰
    Saunders,在上季被灰狼解僱前已經執教七個半賽季的人，他知道他有多幸運。"要一

Saunders, who has installed a more up-tempo offense, is thrilled -- to say the
least -- with how the Pistons have reacted to his style. They are scoring more,
up about 10 points a game from a season ago. But they are still playing their
trademark defense.
"Any time you take a situation where you're following up a team that has been
in the Finals two years in a row, the big question mark is: How will the players
react to coaching situations when you're in it?" Saunders said. "Going through
the first seven games, what's proven is that they've reacted very positively,
been very receptive to coaching."

No complaints
Had the Pistons stumbled, we would have heard calls on the radio similar to
those when Brown took over for Rick Carlisle.
When the Pistons started a so-so 15-13 in Brown's first season, many figured
there had been a big mistake.
This time, the Pistons haven't missed a beat.

沒有怨言
    活塞也曾蹣跚而行過，在Brown取代Rick Carlisle時，我們曾在廣播聽過一些熟悉的

Saunders had a message for the Pistons, who have not had a home-court advantage
in the Finals the last two years.
"I told the guys in order to have success in the postseason, you want to take
care of the regular season," Saunders said. "You ask anybody, if they had Game
7 here they would have felt more comfortable.
"We talked to them about the importance of home court, about the importance of
taking it one game at a time and trying to play the perfect game. You know you
can't, but you go out with that mentality."

    Saunders對活塞球員指出，他們並沒有在上次的總冠軍賽取得主場優勢。"我告訴這些
球員，要在季賽中拿好成績，你必須要對季賽特別用心"Saunders說:"你可以問任何人，假
如他們第七場在家的話，他們可以做得更好。"
