Hamilton faces big defensive challenges against Nets

漢米在面對籃網時將遇到防守上的挑戰

Richard Hamilton's name probably doesn't come to mind
when you think about the NBA's better defensive players.

當你在思考現在 NBA 裡有哪些好的防守球員的時候,你絕不會想到漢米

Still, Hamilton understands there will be games --
such as Wednesday's contest against the New Jersey Nets --
when his ability to defend will be just as important as his offense.

但是,漢米覺得下一場比賽(禮拜三對上籃網)時,

Hamilton's defensive challenge on Wednesday will begin with Vince Carter,
the Nets' leading scorer whose size, strength
and ability to play well above the rim pose matchup concerns.
When he's not guarding Carter, Hamilton will try to defend Jason Kidd,
still one of the NBA's top point guards.

The Pistons have several tenacious defenders,
but Hamilton has his own way of making an impact.

his defense has improved more than anybody else," said Joe Dumars,
Detroit's president of basketball operations.
"He takes the challenge now of guarding people.
He's not a lock-down defensive player.
But what he is, is a guy who moves his feet,
he stays in front of people and makes it tough for guys to get easy shots on.
That's what you want from a defender."

New Jersey's Richard Jefferson missed most of last season because of
what he considered "a dirty play" by Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups.
Jefferson believes a flagrant foul committed
against him by Billups on Dec. 27 resulted in his season-ending wrist injury.

"Was it a dirty play? Yes. Is Chauncey Billups a dirty player?
By no means, I don't think so," Jefferson said at the time.

Billups said he felt bad that Jefferson was out for most of the season,
but he maintains that the foul was not dirty.

"He was having a great year. But what he said wasn't right,

For the record, Jefferson sustained an injury to the same wrist against
the New York Knicks a month before the Billups foul. And after the Dec. 27 game,
Jefferson appeared in seven games before choosing to have surgery.

根據紀錄, Jefferson 在槍蜥的那次犯規的一個月前對上尼克在相同的地方就受傷了.
在 12/27 的比賽後 Jefferson 在他選擇手術之前,出場了七場比賽.
