AUBURN HILLS -- The Detroit Pistons are the best team in the NBA because
players understand their roles.
奧本山宮殿報導 -- 底特律活塞是聯盟最佳球隊，因為他們的球員都清楚自己扮演的

The same can be said for the coaching staff, with different contributions
coming from each to help shape what has been the league's most dominant team
this season.
同樣的一句話可以用來形容他們的教練團，來自各個不同專業領域的貢獻塑造了這支

"They all bring something different to the table," said first-year Pistons head
coach Flip Saunders. "I have great confidence in every one of them."

That's because each understands that he has a specific role, and never loses
sight of that.

Sidney Lowe's strength is at the defensive end of the floor. That, coupled with
Lowe's experience as an NBA head coach -- he led the Minnesota Timberwolves
(1993-1994) and Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies (2000-2002) -- has made him a
valuable asset to the staff.

Don Zierden, who has been one of Saunders' closest friends for years, has a
great feel for offensive play and is an effective communicator with young

"Coach Z, man, he's great," said Pistons rookie Alex Acker. "He's always
encouraging you, stuff like that."

Then there's Igor Kokoskov, now in his third season as a Pistons assistant
after spending the previous three as an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers

He was the one assistant that Saunders didn't know that well. Needless to say,
Saunders has been pleasantly surprised.

"Every day, he comes into my office with three new plays," Saunders said. "My
playbook is big enough, let alone to keep on adding. He has a very good
understanding of wrinkles and things that he wants to do."

Saunders also has zone defensive guru Kevin Wilson aboard as a consultant, and
he is involved in every team practice.

"We haven't played it (zone) a lot," Saunders said. "But at some point, it's
gonna be a factor. He (Wilson) does a lot, studying opposing team's cuts, as
far as how they're going against our zones. Every game, we may not use it but
we're pretty much prepared on what we need to do."
Saunders說"我們(區域防守)運用還不多，不過某些時候，它會成為致勝關鍵。他(

And then there's Ron Harper, who won five NBA championships as a player with
the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers. Harper brings a championship
mentality to his work with the perimeter players.
接著還有球員時期在芝加哥公牛及洛杉磯湖人五度取得冠軍戒指的Ron Harper，他以
一個前冠軍隊伍成員的身分教導球員們奪冠隊伍應具備的心態。
Shortly after he accepted the job with the Pistons, Harper made it abundantly
clear why he was here.
在他接任活塞隊助理教練這職位沒多久，Harper就很明確地讓大家知道為什麼球團要
延聘他來(當助理教練)。
"My main goal is to make sure that we get this team back to where it was two
years ago (when the Pistons won the NBA title)," Harper said.
Harper說"我的主要目的就是確定我們能讓這支球隊回到兩年前的那個位置(當年活塞
贏得NBA總冠軍)。"
So far, Harper and the other assistants are well on their way to achieving that
goal.

Saunders is reluctant to talk about comparisons that are already being drawn
between this Pistons team and the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls that won an record
72 regular-season games. However, he acknowledges he has been pleasantly
surprised by the Pistons' 20-3 start.
對於球隊早就被拿來和'95-'96年創下例行賽72勝10敗紀錄的芝加哥公牛比較這件事，
Saunders不願多談，但他承認對於活塞開季拿下20勝3敗的成績感到很驚喜。
"I don't think anyone expects to get off to 20-3," Saunders told reporters
following Tuesday night's 93-89 win against Portland. "I thought we had the
ability to get off to a good start, but I didn't think it would get as gaudy
as it's gotten. A lot of times, you're only two or three possessions away from
being 16-7, or whatever."
Saunders在活塞禮拜二晚上以93比89擊敗波特蘭拓荒者後告訴記者"我想沒有任何一個
人預測到我們會有20勝3敗的開季成績，我想我們有能力拿到不錯的開季成績，但沒想過戰
