AUBURN HILLS-- Isiah Thomas kept telling himself not to cry. But when he saw
images of himself during a video tribute at The Palace earlier this month, he
choked up, left the arena and broke down.

playing days were over, he still gets misty-eyed during ceremonies that
celebrate his great career. Thomas, a Hall of Fame point guard and New York
Knicks president, was honored again with a ceremony that unveiled his name and
number on The Palace court.

Thomas has returned to The Palace several times as a coach and front-office
executive after a much publicized divorce with the organization. Is it possible
that the once-icy relationship between Thomas, Pistons owner Bill Davidson and
Palace Sports and Entertainment chief executive officer Tom Wilson might be
thawing?
笑笑湯和活塞撕破臉早已廣為人知，他之前就曾以教練及球團高層的身分回到宮殿球

Thomas chatted with Davidson when Davidson walked into the building Dec. 2 and
they shook hands again before Thomas' ceremony.

Thomas and Wilson stood near one another during the game and spoke.

Wilson much since his retirement in 1994. Earlier that season, rumors began
floating that Thomas would take a front-office position with the Pistons, get a
huge bonus from Davidson and receive partial ownership of the franchise.

proclaimed Thomas a "Piston for life," although there were no job openings for
Thomas.

Thomas was instrumental in elevating the Pistons to one of the elite franchises
in the league. He led them to three straight NBA Finals, including titles in

After Thomas retired, his only link to the franchise was Pistons president Joe
Dumars. The former backcourt mates speak frequently as front-office executives
but they also shoot the breeze about sports, current events and their families.

How does Thomas describe his relationship with the Pistons today?

with my place in basketball. And I am also happy with the Pistons' place in

Wilson said the cold war between the Pistons and Thomas is over.

Thomas said he has put the past behind him, as well.

"I didn't have a choice but to put it behind me," Thomas said. "It was made
very clear there was no opportunity for me here. You wake up. You go out and go
find a job."

Thomas' legacy is etched around The Palace. There is Isiah Thomas Drive. His
