Q . Best concert you've ever seen?
問：你看過最棒的音樂會？
A . Barbra Streisand, back when she came here like in 1990-91.
答：'90-'91年B.Streisan來這裡舉辦的音樂會。
Q . What made her so good?

A . It was fabulous. She only did six cities and was here for three nights.
There was no detail unnoticed.

She carpeted the floor of the arena, and nobody has ever done that before -- or
since. She had an 80-piece orchestra, directed by Marvin Hamlisch. It was
sound-studio perfect. Utter perfection.

Q . That's a lot of carpet to cover the floor of The Palace.

A . Yeah, the floor space is 100,000 square feet. The carpet was enormous. And
we already have one of the best acoustical facilities because we have cloth
seats.

You really don't need to cover the floor for good sound. Maybe it was
psychological for her. I don't know. But the end result was magic. We don't
recommend carpet for most concerts at The Palace, as vomit is hard to get out.
你真的不需要覆蓋整個地板以追求更好的聲音效果，也許那對她而言是心裡作用成分
居多。我不知道，但結果的確很完美。我們不會建議往後在宮殿球場舉辦的音樂會都得舖

Q . Is there a group you'd like to see at The Palace?

A . We've had everybody who is working come through here. But groups like the
Doors, the Beatles, man I'd love to see them, but obviously that's not going to
happen.

I guess I'd have to say Led Zeppelin -- they've not done anything for years. My
15-year-old son (Kevin) is into them now, so it would be a cool,
cross-generational thing for us to enjoy.
我想我會說L.Zeppelin -- 他們已經好幾年沒演出了。我15歲的兒子(Kevin)現在也喜
歡上他們了，所以那對我們而言將會是一個很酷的，可以跨世代的共同欣賞的演出。
Q . Be honest -- can you actually enjoy a concert, or are you always worrying
about business things?

A . I love concerts, but yes, at times I am on edge. The first night of
Streisand, I was all over the place, checking the concession stands, the
entrances for the metal (detector) checks.
答：我熱愛音樂會，不過的確，有時候我會緊張、不安。Streisand音樂會的第一個晚
上，我走遍整個場地，一下子檢查攤販的營業情形，一下子到門口關心金屬探測器的使用
情形。
But the second night, I sat back and enjoyed it.

I didn't even realize how good it was the first night. I am the luckiest guy in
the world.
我甚至不了解第一晚有多麼美好，我是全世界最幸運的人。
Four years ago, when Paul McCartney was here, I sat like 30 feet away, on the
side stage, on some equipment box and just watched him. How can life get any
better than that?
4年前當P.McCartney來這裡演出時，我坐在大概30呎遠，舞台邊邊的器材箱上看著他
的表演，人生至此，夫復何求？
Q . Before you got into business, you were an actor. Any good roles?
問：你進入商業界前是個演員，有演過什麼好腳色嗎？
A . No, I had a lot of crappy parts, but it was the near misses that were more
fun. I was in the original "Brian's Song" movie, and I got to play football and
hang out with James Caan.
答：沒，我大部分都演跑龍套的小腳色，不過還好還蠻有趣的。我在一開始"Brian's
Song'的電影演出過，打過橄欖球，也跟J.Caan(演員)一起混過。
That was great. I also got to hang out with Howard Cosell for a day when he
shot "Nanny and the Professor."
那真的很棒，H.Cosell(體育知名主播)在拍"Nanny and the Professor"時，我也和他
相處過一天。
What changed my life was a small role on a "Barnaby Jones" episode. I played a
pro basketball player who was throwing a game. We shot it at the Forum in L.A.,
and after the week was over, I got a job with the Lakers.
改變我一生的是在"Barnaby Jones"那部戲裡的一個小腳色，我飾演一個輸掉球賽的職
業籃球員。我們在洛杉磯的球館拍攝那部片子，一週後，我在湖人隊獲得一份工作。
Q . Favorite comfort food?

A . Popcorn. I have it five, six times a week. And yes, with butter.
答：爆米花，我一個禮拜吃他個5、6次，噢，對了，要奶油口味的。
Q . Are you good with plants?
問：你喜歡植物嗎？
A . I love nature. We have a couple of acres at our house. And I love to just
go outside and enjoy being out there, putz around. We have 350 events a year
here, so when I get a chance to spend some time relaxing, that's where I go.
答：我熱愛大自然。我們家種有很多植物，而且我也喜歡往外跑，享受在外閒晃的感
覺。我們一年在這有350件事要處理，所以一旦我有時間可以放鬆，那就是我熱愛的休閒活
動。
