HOUSTON -- The Pistons can deny it all they want. But these days, it's mighty
hard to play the disrespect card they love so much.
    休士頓訊 -- 只要他們喜歡，入選明星賽的4位活塞球員大可對任何的訪問說不。但這
幾天，他們很難任意對訪問者們發出好人卡。

They certainly couldn't Friday, not when four Pistons -- and coach Flip
Saunders -- rolled into a media session to discuss Sunday's All-Star Game,
where they will represent the Eastern Conference.
    尤其是禮拜五，不只這4位球員 -- 甚至連老桑教練 -- 都參加了以星期天全明星賽為
題所舉辦的媒體說明會，因為他們都將代表東區於明星賽中亮相。

From the moment they stepped onto the ballroom floor, the dance was on. Writers
and broadcasters from across the country converged on Chauncey Billups, Richard
Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace, asking old standards (What's
different about this team under Flip?) and new hits (Which hairstyle do you
prefer, the 'Fro or the cornrows?).

They had just arrived from Detroit an hour or so earlier, but Ben Wallace said
the feeling already was different from his All-Star experiences as a solo
Piston the previous three seasons.

"You've got guys around you all the time who you can relate to and who can

Saunders, who will coach the East team with his Pistons staff, said there was a
"Pistons contingent" everywhere he went. And it was true. On one side of the

Some reveled in the moment in the spotlight.

"I come from a place where this doesn't happen," Hamilton said. "To be here is
unbelievable because when everyone tells you, you can't do something, you can't
do something, you can't do something, and you get the opportunity to be in the
NBA, to win a championship, and now, to be an All-Star, it's unbelievable."
    RIP說"我來自一個不可能的地方，能站在這裡簡直叫人不敢相信，因為每個人都這麼
告訴你，你做不到這個，做不到那個，你根本就沒機會，而你卻經由持續不斷的努力終於
如願以償打進NBA，甚至贏得一座總冠軍，而今天，更入選全明星賽，這實在不可思議。"

Hamilton and Billups are first-time All-Stars. Rasheed Wallace was an All-Star
twice when he played at Portland. The Pistons, whose 42-9 record is the best in
the NBA, will have four players in the game for the first time. All were picked
as reserves.
    RIP和槍蜥今年是首度入選全明星賽，溪蛙則在過去還效力於波特蘭拓荒者時期就已經
二度入選。活塞本季42勝9敗的戰績獨步聯盟，這將會是球隊隊史上第一次同時有4名球員
入選全明星賽，而他們全都是以替補身分入選。

Hamilton had been giddy when the announcement came last week, and a two-day
trip to the Bahamas ("I needed some me time," he said) didn't diminish that. If
anything, walking into the spotlight only strengthened it.
    RIP自從上週得知自己入選全明星賽後就高興地頭昏目眩，而巴拿馬二日遊並未減輕該
情形(他說"我需要一些屬於自己的時間。")，如果說有任何改變，走進聚光燈下讓這情形
更加強烈了(要丟了！？)。

"I never witnessed playing on an All-Star team," said Hamilton, 28. "The only
thing I witnessed was playing a video game and picking an All-Star team on
there. "It'll be fun when I can go on a video game now and see myself with that
All-Star jersey," Hamilton said.
    28歲的RIP表示"我從未入選過全明星賽，以前我只有在電動遊戲中才有機會參與全明
星賽。現在如果我再玩電動，看著自己穿著全明星賽的球衣，那肯定很有趣。"

Across the room, Billups was inundated with questions about his MVP candidacy,
the Pistons' offense and the team's championship hunt. Hard to feel
disrespected with topics like that.
    房間的另一端，槍蜥被有機會被選為MVP、如果主導活塞的進攻及球隊將如何獵取總冠

"Our last game was Tuesday, so I had a couple days to soak it in," Billups said
. "That's when it kind of hit me that I made it. I'm an All-Star. It's still a
little surreal right now. It's something that I always wanted."

At another table, Saunders talked strategy. He said he would get the Pistons in
the game together with about four or five minutes left in the first quarter. A
fifth player, an honorary Piston for the night, will be Celtics forward Paul
Pierce.
    在另一張桌子，老桑談論著戰略。他表示在第一節剩下4到5分鐘時會讓4名活塞球員一
起登場，而第五名球員將會是偽活塞球員，塞爾提克的包皮耳屎。

Other than that, Saunders said he just hoped no fouls would be called while his
players wait to check in.

"In that case," Saunders said, "we might call them back."

Once they're in the game, "We'll run our offense," Saunders said. "We'll run
our plays. That'll be the most relaxing time that I'll have at the All-Star
Game, when they're on the floor."

Only one Piston refused to bask in the glow of arriving at All-Star weekend.
Just around the corner from Billups' table, Rasheed Wallace was patient, as he
answered questions for 45 minutes. That's a lifetime of "unnecessary stuff" to
'Sheed.
    只有一位活塞球員拒絕沉浸於全明星週末即將到來的激情之中，那就是槍蜥桌子旁角
落的溪蛙，他在回答問題的45分鐘內表現地病懨懨，訪問對溪蛙來說，終其一生都是無關
緊要的小事。

And while he said he was happy for his teammates -- and jealous of Tayshaun
Prince, who was in the Bahamas -- Wallace said he would be happier if everyone
left the Pistons where they belong -- in the shadows of disrespect.
    而當溪蛙說到在巴拿馬度假的隊友兼明星賽遺珠小王子時顯得很開心，他表示如果每
個人都把活塞留在那個屬於他們的地方(被不經意的蔑視)他會更高興。

"I liked it a whole lot better before," Wallace said. "... Keep us on the
backburner. We won't lose our swagger at all, because when you put that food on
the backburner, it's just simmering and it tastes better.
    溪蛙說"我很懷念以前的日子，就把我們擺在次要位置吧。我們完全不會因此失去威脅
性，因為當你把食物放在火力較小的後爐口慢慢燉，那嚐起來更美味。"

"When you got that food on the front burner, that's the one you're paying
attention to the most, and that's the one that might burn. We on that
backburner."
    "當你把食物放在前爐口，那會是你付出最多注意力的位置，也是最有可能燒焦的。我
們還是習慣惦惦吃三碗公。"
