AUBURN HILLS -- As usual, it was Rasheed Wallace who summed it up.

"Now he's immortalized," Wallace said after learning that team president Joe
Dumars had been elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame, first reported by News
columnist Rob Parker early Friday night.

While Dumars can't comment on his election until Monday's official announcement

Dumars, who was selected in his second year of eligibilty, spent his entire

Chauncey Billups to win that award before playing in the All-Star Game.

While Dumars is being inducted as a player, Saunders wasn't the only one who
stressed his character over his jump shot. Not only was Dumars the first
recipient of the NBA's sportsmanship award, it was later named after him.

For the second home game in a row, the Pistons faced a local player making a
rare start. After Oakland University's Rawle Marshall was in the Mavericks
lineup Tuesday, Detroit went against Bell on Friday.

While the Pistons fell short of going a year between regulation losses at home,
they have gotten another streak to 12 months. Detroit has not lost to a Central
Division rival at the Palace since March 25, 2005 - the infamous "bomb scare"
game against Indiana.
