AUBURN HILLS -- Don't call it a slump; call it the calm before the storm.

Richard Hamilton, over the last 11 games, has scored 20 or more points just
once. He is averaging 16 points during that stretch, five under his season
average.

"I am in a great rhythm," he said before the game against Cleveland on
Wednesday. "I feel great. It really doesn't matter to me now (how much he

What Hamilton is doing, essentially, is tapering for the playoffs.

"Every year, if you look, I've done pretty much the same thing," he said. "I
know the last two seasons how I felt after that last (playoff) game. It's
important for me to pace myself in a way that I can be ready. The way we are
playing now, there's no need for me to go out and get 30 points.

might have to play 40-plus minutes. And that's when I want to play those

Hamilton has been extremely productive in the other areas. He has been so
effective defensively that he is sure to get some consideration for the
all-defensive teams. He has been distributing the ball effectively of late as
well.

"The last couple of games, our best mismatch has been with Tayshaun (Prince),"
coach Flip Saunders said.

, he's not going to force a lot of action. I like the fact that his assists are
up and he's looking for people.

Zoned up
    開始使用區域聯防

The Pistons still don't exactly love playing zone defense. But they have slowly
come to accept it as another effective tool in stopping teams from scoring.
    活塞仍不是相當喜歡使用區域聯防，但他們已經漸漸接受了，並把它當成阻止對手得
分的利器。

"I think they are finding out that it might be a change of pace that can help
you win," Saunders said.
    老桑說"我認為他們正認識到也許換個口味對球隊贏球也很有幫助。"

Especially playing against an individual as skilled as LeBron James .
    尤其是對付像LBJ這種個人進攻技巧出色的球員時。

"When you feel like you are on an island covering LeBron James, and you look
around and nobody's around, that's a scary feeling," Saunders said.
    老桑說"當你像座孤城面臨LBJ的強力挑戰時，你環顧四週卻完全沒有一個隊友在身邊
，那感覺肯定令你提心吊膽。"

The Pistons have played much more zone and deployed more full-court traps the
last four or five games, and they will continue to do so for the remainder of
the regular season.
    在過去四到五場比賽活塞已經使用越來越多的區域聯防以及全場陷阱式防守，而他們
在例行賽剩下這幾場比賽也將持續這麼做。

"We going to continue working on those things to make sure we have a full
arsenal of weapons heading into the playoffs," Saunders said.

    附帶一提

Once the Pistons clinch the overall best record and home-court advantage
throughout the playoffs (the magic number was two entering the game), Saunders
said he planned to activate rookies Amir Johnson and Alex Acker in at least or
two of the remaining games.
    一旦活塞確定獲得全聯盟最佳戰績及季後賽所有的主場優勢後(封王的魔術數字在這場
面對暴龍的比賽前還剩下2)，老桑表示他計畫最後一、兩場比賽會激活菜鳥球員A.Johnson
