The Pistons were due for a tough challenge, a good slap-in-the-face,
take-it-to-the-buzzer type of game.

They got one Sunday evening against the Houston Rockets, owners of the league's
fourth-worst record.

Tracy McGrady scored a season-high 43 points for Houston, but even he couldn't
quell the hottest team in the league, as the Pistons escaped the Palace with a
99-97 win.

McGrady, playing his second game after sitting out the previous five with back
spasms, finished with the highest points total a player has scored against
Detroit this season.

The Pistons had five players score in double figures. Chauncey Billups and
Richard Hamilton each scored 24, and Maurice Evans came off the bench for 11.

Detroit held on after defending against rookie Luther Head, whose three-point

it.

to Ben Wallace, who skied above the rim and slammed it down for a 98-94 lead

Billups said he has missed these down-to-the-wire games.

"It's been awhile," he said, "but I like games like that much better than like
the games when we win by 10, 15 or 20 points. I don't like playing games like
that."

有趣多了，我不喜歡打那種很歡樂的比賽。"

McGrady alone gave Houston a chance. He scored 19 points in the first half,
helping erase a 13-point deficit.

"They're a different team with Tracy," Saunders said. "He was phenomenal
tonight. At times, even before we could try and get to him to trap, he was
shooting it deep and he was on fire. But for us this was a good game."

NOTES: Houston forward Ryan Bowen left in the second quarter with an
irregular heartbeat and did not return. Coach Jeff Van Gundy said the six-year
veteran has experienced the condition before and was removed from the game as a
precaution. He was not hospitalized.
    備註：火箭前鋒R.Bowen在第二節因心律不整而離場後就沒回到球場了，教練J.Van
Gundy表示這位6年級中生代球員以前就有過這樣的情形，離場只是為了保險起見，但還不
需接受住院治療。
