Team uses off day to rest, watch film and loosen up
They left the Palace on Tuesday night trailing in the series and behind in
their rest. On Wednesday, the Pistons caught up the only way they could.

Coach Flip Saunders granted his veteran team the day off from practice, choos-
ing instead to prepare for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals against the
Miami Heat with what he called an "extended film session."

After a seven-game saga with the Cleveland Cavaliers that may have sapped more
energy than anyone realized, the Pistons' legs appeared weary Tuesday in a 91-

Taking Wednesday off "was more mental than anything else," Saunders said. "The
fact of the matter is we put ourselves in that situation. Those were tough

doesn't win at the Palace tonight, it must take four of five games -- with

cy -- which could be taken in one of two ways.

and Rasheed Wallace suffered ankle injuries. Wallace, who averaged 15.1 points
per game during the regular season, has scored 13 or fewer in five of his past
six games. He shot 3-for-10 from the field in 32 minutes in Game 1, uncharac-
teristic enough for Saunders to say, "He was not Rasheed (Tuesday) night."

he poked out of the Pistons' locker room. He offered no guarantees. He avoided
bold pronouncements.
