AUBURN HILLS -- Pistons coach Flip Saunders didn't like the way his
team played recently,
boiling down the sins to two: too few rebounds and too many three-pointers.

老桑不喜歡他的球隊最近的打法, 歸咎於兩各原因 : 籃板太少及太多的三分球

Things were rectified a bit Wednesday against the Bulls, as the Pistons
played a bit more disciplined -- at times.

Coming into the game, the Pistons were 30-for-77 from three-point range in the
past three games, with only 32.5 rebounds per game.

Against the Bulls the Pistons had 43 rebounds and shot 8-for-17 from three-point range.

A big gold star went to Rasheed Wallace, who showed some restraint by not
shooting as many three-pointers.

"He turned down some threes," Saunders said. "He took a couple of dribble-penetrations,
and that collapsed them more and helped out some of our other guys.

Sometimes he might take some threes when he's covered, a little bit contested.

Wallace was 1-for-5 from three-point range, but hit one when it mattered
most -- with 1:43 left in the game.

Saunders said sometimes the Pistons get a little impatient, or even lazy,
and rely on three-pointers too much.

"I think a lot of times that threes have to do with settling," Saunders said.

out after that. I thought we've been settling for too many quick threes.

Getting to know you

Former Timberwolves shooting guard Fred Hoiberg worked out and met with
the Pistons Wednesday.
He is in town because of his close relationship with Saunders.

前明尼蘇達得分後衛Fred Hoiberg已經自己有在練習而且在星期三跟活塞見過面了.
他在芝加哥附近因為他跟老桑的關係很好.

Hoiberg has been out of basketball this season,
recovering from open-heart surgery.
He had a procedure last June to fix his aortic root.

本季到目前為止Hoiberg都還沒打過球, 因為他正在由心臟手術康復中.
他去年六月動了一個手術來治好他的大動脈的毛病.

He's exploring an NBA return, and the Pistons were the first team he visited.
The meetings will continue today among Hoiberg, Saunders and Joe Dumars .

"We came and talked to him and he did a little shooting," Saunders said.

to offer Hoiberg. They would have to release a player.

Ben Wallace 's free-throw shooting has never been a work of art.
But lately things have been really bad, even by Wallace's standards.

He's shooting 2-for-14 from the line over the past three games.

他最近三場比賽的罰球只有14中2.

For the season, Wallace is at 44.6 percent, which is
around his career average.

Rebounder? Yes. Free-throw specialist? No.

Mourning a friend

Saunders took Monday's unexpected death of his friend,
former Minnesota Twins star Kirby Puckett, hard.

老桑在星期一的時候突然收到他的朋友(前明尼蘇達雙城明星球員Kirby Puckett)去世的惡耗.

They struck up a relationship during their days in Minneapolis.
Puckett had season tickets for the Timberwolves, sitting near the home bench.

他們開始他們的友誼當他們倆人同時在明尼雅波里斯的時候.
Pucket擁有灰狼的季票, 位置是在主場球員板凳的附近.

Saunders and Puckett had done some community work together in the Twin Cities.
Puckett retired in 1996 to Phoenix, but stayed in good touch with Saunders.

老桑跟Puckett一起在明尼蘇達做了一些社區服務的工作.
Puckett在1996退秀後搬到鳳凰城, 但還是跟老桑保有很好的連絡.

"It's a great loss for the sports world and Minnesota," Saunders said.
"He was someone that you always remember with a smile on his face. It's tough."
