The day before the Pistons flew to Orlando last week to finish sweeping the
Magic out of the playoffs, the team spent the late morning scrimmaging at its
practice facility next to the Palace.
    上個星期活塞飛往奧蘭多去將魔術橫掃出季後賽的前一天，球隊在接近中午的時間待
在他們位於宮殿隔壁的專屬練習場進行著分組的全場對抗。

It was after 1 p.m. when the last of the bench players finally succumbed to
exhaustion and headed for the locker room after an hour of pickup ball, which
followed almost two hours of formal practice.

One player jumped out over the others. He had a laid-back presence, as if he
were strolling along a beach in his native Argentina, ready to slide up to a
beachside club and survey the scene. He played as if he were never in a hurry.

And yet, for the better part of an hour, in a sweaty gym away from the crowds,
Carlos Delfino got to wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, with grace and
ease. He hit threes. He drove and dished. He drove and dunked. He hit fallaway
jumpers from the baseline that were as gorgeous as a sunset over the Pacific.

It was an all-around display of which Delfino has shown flashes in games,
particularly this season. The question, then, is will the 24-year-old, now in
his third NBA year, continue to show it in the playoffs?

Three years ago, when the Pistons stunned the league and won the title, they
did it with great effort and critical production from their bench. This

Now, he says, "I'm relaxed. I'm more confident."

Saunders inserts Delfino to play defense, collect a few loose balls and hit an
occasional jumper. Delfino fulfilled that role against the Magic, especially in
Games 1 and 4.

"He drives the ball a lot more (in practice)," Antonio McDyess said. "Carlos is
a great finish guy. He just has to find his way in games. It will come. He's
playing with a lot more confidence."

Delfino, for his part, said he finally understands his role on the team, that

gets these days, that he still is learning the NBA game, still learning the
language, still learning to assert himself.

took a minute to contemplate his adjustment to life in the United States. He
was quiet. It took concentration to hear him.

Just as he began speaking, Wallace popped his head in from the trainer's room

Wallace and his teammates have encouraged Delfino to do the same with his game
this season.

"People ask me all the time, 'Why don't you play like you did in Argentina?' "
Delfino said. "I tell them I had the ball in my hands all the time then. Here,
we don't need that."
    "人們總是問我，'為什麼你不像在阿根廷那樣打球呢？'"Delfino說。"我告訴他們在
那裡球總是掌控在我手上。但在這裡，他們不需要我這麼做。"

He paused.
    他講到一半突然停了下來。

"Maybe in the future, but not now."
    "不是現在，不過或許將來就需要了。"
