Kelvin Cato, an injured forward acquired in the Darko Milicic deal, won't be
waived immediately by the Pistons, though he might be used as trade bait.

凱文開頭這名與米粒交易的前鋒，似乎不會那麼急迫的被活塞釋出，
而會將它作為交易的籌碼。

Cato, limited to 23 games this season because of a cracked bone in his right
foot, is expected to report to the team Monday, when the Pistons will give him
a medical evaluation. The Pistons acquired Cato, 31, and Orlando's first-round
draft pick in 2007 or '08 for Milicic and backup point guard Carlos Arroyo.

開頭因他的右腳骨碎裂而在本季只打了23場比賽，但在活塞的醫療評估後，

Cato could remain with the team awhile, or the Pistons might use him and his
expiring $8.6-million contract to get another point guard before the NBA's
trade deadline, which is Thursday.

Joe Dumars, the Pistons' president of basketball operations, said Thursday that
it wouldn't make or break the season if they don't acquire another backup for
point guard Chauncey Billups.

"Who are we going to get that, if something does happen to Chauncey, is going
to lead us to a championship?" Dumars said in a news conference. "You're up the

當船無槳，無論如何都將會陷入困境。"

If the Pistons don't make another trade, they still would have veteran Lindsey
Hunter and rookie Alex Acker as backup point guards. And Cato's contract gives
them some salary cap flexibility.

如果活塞不做任何交易，活塞仍然有老經驗的林溪獵人與菜鳥Acker作為替補後衛。
開頭的合約將會對活塞的薪資調節有著極大幫助。

But Dumars said the Milicic trade was not a salary cap move.

但杜馬斯表示，交易米粒不是因為薪資緣故。


BEHIND THE DARKO DEAL:
Milicic, 20, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003
draft, but he never fit in with the Pistons. Although Milicic's agent, Marc
Cornstein, said this week that he hadn't requested a trade, he met with Dumars
during the team's trip to New Jersey more than two weeks ago. Shortly
thereafter, the Pistons started taking a serious look at trade offers for
Milicic.

米粒交易的背後：

大口‧米粒雞，二十歲，2003年選秀榜眼，在活塞適應不良的男人。
儘管米粒的經紀人馬克康斯丁說這週他並沒有要求交易，

"Quite honestly, the kid was ready to leave," Dumars said. "They didn't come in
pounding fists and saying, 'We want out of here.' "

Mostly, Dumars said, "The kid felt like it was time."

Milicic, a 7-foot center, was a project when he was drafted, and he became less
important after the Pistons turned into a team that made back-to-back
appearances in the NBA Finals.

當初活塞有計畫性的選擇了米粒這個七呎中鋒，但在活塞成為了一個
與冠軍候選人畫上等號的球隊時，他在陣中的重要性卻越顯不重要。

"The team we ultimately turned into had a great impact on his situation,"
Dumars said. "If we don't turn into the team we've turned into over the past 2
1/2 years, I guarantee his situation would be a lot different and he'd probably
still be here."

杜馬斯曰："這個球隊的劇烈變化同時劇烈的影響到他的位置，
如果今天活塞仍然是兩年半前的活塞，我相信米粒一定會是活塞的重要角色，
而他仍然會留在這裡。"

Dumars said he told John Hammond, the Pistons' vice president of basketball
operations, that Milicic would become a productive player in the NBA someday.

杜馬斯對活塞副總裁強漢莫德說過：
"有朝一日，米粒會蛻變成一名有用的球員。"

"I told John Hammond yesterday, 'Make no mistake, we're going to look up and
see some 18-point, 10-rebound, four-block nights from Darko at some point,' "
Dumars said. "For him personally, I think it's a good situation."

"我跟漢莫德說過了，
終有一天，我們將會看到一名平均十八分十籃板四阻攻的中鋒─那是米粒的茁壯。
對米粒來說，我相信那才是他應有的表現。"

場外雜談
─我對米粒的一份情：

我從2004-05的季後賽第一輪開始看球，開始研究NBA，開始支持活塞。

但老實說，認識米粒是在NBALIVE2005。
"奇怪，為什麼我在看比賽的時候都沒有看到這個七呎大中鋒上場呀。
明明就很好用呀，七呎、又有阻攻能力、投射距離還比班蛙遠...
為什麼每次跟朋友PK的時候他都說你幹麻換垃圾上場呢？"

後來查了一些資料之後，才知道米粒被冷凍的原因，
這開始了我對於米粒的觀察。

其實米粒手感不錯，在塞爾維亞的時候還被拿來與KG做比較呢，
我想可能是打法不適合中規中矩的布朗爺吧，
他的打法其實比較像是小前鋒，而不像是布朗爺喜歡的禁區硬漢。

布朗爺下臺，桑教練執政...我期待米粒在桑教練的flex offense系統下，
能夠在活塞爭取到第四長人的地位，能夠分擔雙蛙與袋鼠的工作。
只可惜米粒仍然沒有辦法在活塞站的住腳。
我永遠記得某週的活塞十大，米粒的一球漂亮空中接力。

希望他能夠在魔術與Howard組成可怕的鋒線搭檔，
也能夠不負杜馬斯的期望！
