Tayshaun Prince’s team-high 22 points on Friday couldn’t help the Pistons
defeat Miami, but his late heroics Saturday night against Memphis turned out to
be just enough.

Prince scored 10 of his 17 points in the last five minutes, including the final

Pistons forward Antonio McDyess blocked Grizzlies center Pau Gasol on the

84-82. It was McDyess’ fifth block of the game, and one of the few times the
Pistons had an answer for Gasol, who had 22 points and 15 rebounds.

and the shot clock about to expire, Prince hurried a Hail Mary triple that
found the net and put the Pistons ahead by six, 90-84. Prince made his final
jumper on the next possession for a 92-86 lead.

for a rebound. When it was halfway there, I knew it was good.”

The Grizzlies had a final attempt to tie the game when a jump ball was
deflected to forward Mike Miller, whose shot from in front of the Pistons bench
was off the mark.

The standings said this was a meeting between the best team in the East and the

boards, 51-41. On the perimeter, Miller had a game-high 24 points on 9-of-19
shooting, and his late flurry in the second quarter helped erase a seven-point
Pistons lead and tie the game, 49-49, at halftime.

quarter, and a three by Miller made it 78-72. But McDyess had two baskets and
Billups hit his only three of the game to pull within a point, 79-80, setting
the stage for Prince.

“We basically just hung in there the whole game,” Pistons coach Flip Saunders
said. “We stuck in it and didn’t get too frustrated. With 5:26 to go I told
them ‘we have to execute offensively and lock down defensively.’”

Chris Webber opened scoring with a jumper, and then Billups and Hamilton scored

finished with had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

converted a three-point play, and Rudy Gay scored five straight points to make
it 36-34.

Prince also had six rebounds, all in the first half. He helped the Pistons take
a 28-21 first-quarter lead by capping off a fast break with a dunk, and a few
plays later had a come-from-behind block of Junior Harrington. That block led
to a three-point play by Nazr Mohammed at the other end.

Jason Maxiell made his third start of the year in place of Rasheed Wallace, who
is still nursing a sprained foot. Maxiell had a thunderous dunk in the first
quarter on a fast-break assist from Billups, but struggled with foul trouble
and turnovers, finishing with five points in 12 minutes.
    J.Maxiell本季第三度代替溪蛙先發，他仍在治療扭傷的腳。Maxiell在第一節接獲槍
蜥助攻後演出了一次雷霆萬鈞的灌籃，但之後就一直在犯規麻煩和失誤當中載浮載沉，最

It was another close call for Memphis, which lost in overtime at Philadelphia
Friday. The Grizzlies have now lost four straight, while the Pistons went 1-1
in their first of five back-to-backs in March.
    這是灰熊另一次惜敗，他們在星期五與費城七六人一直殺到延長賽才不幸落敗。灰熊
現在已經吞下了四連敗，而活塞則是在他們三月多達五次的背靠背中第一次留下了一勝一
敗的成績。
