Jason Maxiell always seems good for a thunderous dunk or two when he's on the
court. Free Press sports writer Chris Silva caught up with the second-year
forward out of Cincinnati to chat about dunks, why he does them with such
authority and whom he watched as a kid.
    當J.Maxiell上場時你似乎總會看到他秀了一、兩手雷霆萬鈞的灌籃美技。我們自由報
的專欄記者C.Silva找了這位出身辛辛那提的二年級前鋒來聊了聊為什麼他總是用盡全力將
球塞進籃框，以及誰是他小時候最欣賞的球員等話題。

QUESTION: Do you remember your first dunk?
    問：你記得你的第一次灌籃嗎？

ANSWER: I think it was back in eighth grade. I first started off with a tennis
ball, then a volleyball, then I moved on to a basketball.
    答：沒記錯的話那應該是在我八年級的時候，我一開始是先用網球灌籃，然後是排球，
最後才終於能用籃球灌籃。

Q: What do you remember about it?
    問：你印象中那是怎樣的一次灌籃？

A: It was a normal one because at that time I wasn't very coordinated.
    答：那是一個很普通的灌籃，因為當時我協調性還不是很好。

Q: How did it feel; was it a natural high?
    問：你感覺如何，會不由自主地覺得很嗨嗎？

A: I didn't express any feelings -- I never do. It's natural.
    答：我不會表現出任何情感 -- 我從不這麼做。怎麼說，就很自然這樣。

Q: Is there a reason why you don't express any feelings when you dunk?
    問：為什麼在灌籃時你不表現出任何情感，這是有原因的嗎？

A: I don't know. I kind of get it from my grandfather. He's the same way. No
facial remarks. Just does the same thing, you go out there and do what you've
got to do.
    答：我不知道，或許那是受到我祖父的影響吧。他也是這樣子，喜怒不形於色。就只
是做著一樣的事情，上場並做好那些你該做好的事。

Q: What's your most memorable dunk?
    問：最讓你印象深刻的灌籃是？

A: It was over Otis George, against Louisville. The Conference USA Tournament
at Cincinnati. It was my junior year. It wasn't for me. It was a lob for a
teammate and it got tipped around, bounced back to the free-throw line, and I
just took it and went up with it and jumped over him and he fell. It was pretty
memorable.
    那是當我們球隊對上路易斯維爾大學的事，我在O.George頭上灌籃。當時我還是大學
三年級生，我們在辛辛那提進行全美巡迴賽。那次進攻機會原本不是要做給我的，那是一
記傳給我隊友的高吊球，但他沒把球點進去，球彈回罰球線附近，我把球撈起就往籃底下
衝，在高高躍起後把他撞開並把球塞進籃框，那真是美好的回憶。

Q: So did anyone teach you how to dunk?
    問：所以有誰教過你要怎麼灌籃嗎？

A: No, I just did it on my own. Just watching Charles (Barkley) on TV and
learned from that, actually. Just go up strong.
    答：沒有，我一向都自己來。事實上，我只是從電視上看巴爵士怎麼強暴籃框並從中
學習。反正用力地把球往籃框裡塞就對了。

Q: Did you have a favorite dunker growing up?
    問：你長大的過程中有特別欣賞的灌籃高手嗎？

A: Oak (Charles Oakley), Shawn Kemp, Dominique (Wilkins), Barkley, Shaq.
    答：有阿，就C.Oakley、S.Kemp、人類精華影片Wilkins、巴爵士還有大歐等人囉。

Q: Would you ever accept an invitation to the slam-dunk contest?
    問：你會考慮接受邀請，參加全明星週的灌籃大賽嗎？

A: No, that's flashy. I'm not a flashy dunker. I'm a power dunker.
    答：不，那需要花俏的灌籃技巧，但我只是一個強力灌籃手而已。
