It sounds like a 100% REAL urban legend.
Cats are 'almost aready' ready-made victims in the genre,
and in such 'told' fatasies they are always enclosed in
such and such containers, washing machines, microwaves ovens,
etc.
Why not ? Since one of the greatest physicists of the twentieth
century, WERNER HEISENBERG (1901 - 1976), had made cat one part
of his theory of physics. In the plain version of his theory,
cat was examplified as a half-live half-dead creature in an opaque
box rendering invisible to the outside world. And in the next half
centry, propabaly forever, no single physicists had ever asked the
primary question of Will: Why is it there? S/he wills it?
Why the pussy chooses to lead a metaphysically problematized existence?
Or is the animal so smart to envisage Heidegger's philosophical
theory of Geworfenheit (thrownness) even before Heidegger himself?
Since the cat don't say a word about it, and even the physicist
himself cannot prove his witnessing the case's existence (the case
is not suppoised to exist, paradoxically) we better treat Heisenberg's
case no more than an urban legend thay he had heard from others.
So much about physics and philosophy. A copycat joke strikes the
bell. 'BonSai kitten', remember? About half a year before, a webpage was
accused of saling 'Bonsai Kitten's, the kittens entrapped in various
shapes of jar. These Bonsai Kittens could served pieces of furniture,
or gardenning plants (Bonsai). FBI investigated the case and found it
a joke. Only to learn about the genre of urban legend and the
tradition of the genre that kittens are always targets, then the FBI
will spare the efforts.
But why cats? In my lay opinion, the species serves the symbol
of irrational, hysteric, mystical, fatal 'women', so the class of
animal, as the scapegoat of the damned sex, sould be imprisoned in
any kind of container, locked deep in men's unconciousness. But male
will agree, they cannot LIVE without, and in reality have to live
with PUSSY, both an organic creature and an organ of creating. So
they make a smart decision: to put Cat in Urban legend, banishing
symbolically the victim from the turmoils of real life without
endandering it physically.
