[外電] Dan Johnson to NYY

The Yankees have signed backup corner infielder Dan Johnson to a minor league
contract that would be worth $900,000 if he makes the team, a source
confirmed.

Johnson is best known for hitting the solo homer against the Yankees that
tied Game No. 162 of the 2011 regular season that eventually vaulted the
Tampa Bay Rays into the playoffs. The Rays had trailed that game 7-0.

Johnson, 33, could be a backup infielder in the mode of Eric Chavez, though
he doesn't have Chavez' pedigree. In seven big league seasons, the
left-handed hitting Johnson is a .237 hitter. He hasn't played more than 40
games in a major league season since 2007 with the A's. In 2012, he appeared
in 14 games with the Chicago White Sox, hitting .364 with three homers and
six RBIs.
