Pat Burrell on 15 days DL

ST. PETERSBURG -- After Sunday's 7-5 Rays victory over the Indians,
the Rays placed DH Pat Burrell on the 15-day disabled list
with a neck strain, retroactive to May 12.

Veteran reliever Jason Isringhausen was reinstated from Triple-A Durham
to take the roster spot.

"I think the bottom line is, I've been out of the lineup for I guess a week
now, and things just aren't where I want them to be," Burrell said. "Coming
into [the series against the Marlins in Miami], you have to have everybody
available. It's looking like early next week."

While Burrell was headed for the DL, he managed to run onto the field while
still getting dressed when both teams nearly got into a fracas in the bottom
of the eighth.

"Yeah, I didn't like the way that went down," Burrell said. "I mean that's
baseball, things happen, you know. ... That's part of it. You have to be out
there."

Isringhausen made 10 relief appearances on his rehab assignment between
Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham and compiled a 4.09 ERA in 11
innings pitched. Rays manager Joe Maddon said the veteran reliever could
help boost the bullpen, which has been extended of late.
