Strengths: Bat speed, with power to all fields. Plate discipline. Arm strength
/release (1.90)
Weaknesses: Speed/agility. Receiving skills. Durability
Comments: His bat is strong enough that Tampa Bay may be willing to carry him
as a DH/third catcher in 2004. Visa problems prevented him from
beginning the season on time, but came out of the gate hitting. He
combines the ability to hit for power and judge the strike zone as
well as any upper-level hitter. His past is littered with knee and
back injuries. He won't be a full-time starter behind the plate,
despite good arm strength, but could be solid in a C/1B/DH role.
