Desmond Jennings,one of the Rays prospects,hasn't played much this year due to injuries. Now, it appears that the high Class A Vero Beach center fielder's season is over after just 24 games. According to the Tampa Tribune,Jennings will have shoulder surgery on Wednesday,costing him the rest of the season. Jennings,21,spent the beginning of the season on the disabled list with a back injury and then a sore left shoulder. After two months on the DL,Jennings returned to the field and hit .256/.360/.412 in just 85 at-bats. While Jennings provides supereme athleticism, a strong knowledge of the strike zone and a ability both at the plate and in the field,injuries have been his Achilles'heel as a pro.
