Florentino Perez Announces He Will Stand For Real Madrid Presidency
At a press conference on Thursday morning, Florentino Perez has made public
one of the worst kept secrets of the season...
Florentino Perez has officially announced that he will stand in Real Madrid's
presidential elections in June in a bid to regain the seat that he stepped
down from three years ago.
The construction magnate believes that now is the opportune time for him as he
explained that he was persuaded to try and regain control after the club's
image had been tarnished this season.
While others have yet to state whether they will challenge Perez, he remains
the strong favourite to win the elections on June 14 and usher in a new
Galactico era.
"I have not said anything throughout the season as I have not wanted to disturb
things,"he told the assembled media pack.
"But after the serious events that have occurred recently I have officially
decided to announce my decision to stand at the Real Madrid elections."
Perez then reflected that he should not have stood down in 2006 without having
first left plans in place to keep the club on what he believes was an even
keel.
"I know that the status of the club is precarious and is a challenge, and I
should not have left without having assured that there was the stability that
Real Madrid needed," he continued.
"The sad events at the general assembly in December have left the club in a
difficult position and what moved me to make the decision is the urgency
required across the board to see us through these difficult times."
That sly dig at his predecessor, Ramon Calderon, who was forced to resign in
February this year after being caught rigging the club's assembly, saw Perez
signal his intention to change things.
With so many major players linked with a move to Madrid should Perez win the
election, nearly 250 members of the media were at the conference in the Hotel
Ritz in Madrid for his announcement.
Having won an election in 2000 and again four years later, Perez is an expert
in front of the press and he created drama and intrigue during six years at the
helm before resigning as his Galactico plans saw the club go for three seasons
without a trophy.

弗羅倫蒂諾總結了自己上一次的執政：「2000年我進入俱樂部時，接收的是糟糕的形象和
經濟環境，但在6年不停歇的努力後，我認為我們達到了預計的目標。我們的競技模式將全
世界最好的球員帶到了皇馬，贏得了7個冠軍，包括俱樂部百年慶典時的3個世界級冠軍。
在經濟方面也是世界最佳，我們對俱樂部進行了全面的現代化改造，皇馬的形象處於它應
該處於的地方，而且我們還鞏固了皇馬的商標。我確實不應該在未能保證俱樂部穩定的情
況下辭職。」
弗羅倫蒂諾評價了他辭職後皇馬的處境：「過去三年，俱樂部一直處在動盪之中，我們處
於一個需要盡快超越的糟糕時期。2006年的俱樂部選舉是很糟的，為了自己的利益到處打
官司是對俱樂部最大的損害。」
對於自己的未來計劃，弗羅倫蒂諾表示：「我們將用一支強大的球隊和一個超出人們想像
的體育藍圖來吸引會員，除了這個，我們首先還需要解決俱樂部的當務之急，制定一套組
織模式，以消除過去一段時間俱樂部經歷過的不規範行為。對抗困難，我們會有一套穩定
的計劃；對抗動盪，我們需要把沉靜擺在第一位；對抗失望，我們會有清晰的主意、超強
的職業精神。」
弗羅倫蒂諾沒有宣佈將簽約哪些球星，也沒有透露皇馬的未來主帥會是誰。在回答記者們
提問時，他只是表示溫格和穆裡尼奧都是很出色的教練，但他拒絕透露更多的信息；對於
C羅等球星，老弗的回答也只是點到即止：「他們是世界上最好的球員，但在正式參加競
選前，我們不談論這些簽約。」
但他表示：「幾天之內，在俱樂部正式宣佈主席競選開始的時候，我會正式參加競選，我
的工作團隊屆時也會對現在我的講的藍圖做更詳細的解釋。」弗羅倫蒂諾最後表示：「我
