During an interview with Realmadrid Television, Robinho said he was very
happy and wished to become part of the White first team and to start winning
titles with the team.
*How do you want your farewell from Santos to be?
I want to leave a good image. Santos helped me to achieve my objectives in
football, to participate with the Brazilian national team as I have dreamt
since I was a kid. I want to leave through the front door, playing well, I
hope to leave scoring goals, something that I like, I hope to leave Santos in
a good position in the Brazilian championship. Santos is in 5th position and
I hope that before leaving I will be able to help the Club to get to the top
position in the league
*What are you going to miss about Brazil?
I’m going to miss the Santos Club, playing here, my friends, the city, my
fellow players, I’m going to miss lots of things but I’m going to a great
club, Real Madrid, I have friends there such as Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, also
Luxemburgo and I hope to make Spanish friends too. I talked a lot with
Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos and they told me that the fans of Real Madrid are
very good, that they are very affectionate towards the players and I hope
they will be so with me and I also hope to win many titles.
*Is the fact of playing with Ronaldo in Real Madrid going to be helpful, in
terms of the World Cup 2006?
I think it’s going to be good to play together. If we play together at Real
Madrid, it will be easier at the national team because we will have played
together more often, and you get used to playing, but it is difficult in the
Brazilian national team because there are many very good players but for me it
’s a point of pride to play in such a great club as Real Madrid, I cannot
wait to be there, along with my fellow players and I hope to play well.
*What can you tell us about Julio Baptista?
We played when he was here in Brazil at Sao Paulo…yes, Santos won…and then
we had the good fortune of playing together for the Brazilian national team
and I hope we will be successful at Real Madrid and also on the Brazilian
national team.
*And what is your relationship with Luxemburgo like?
It’s very good. He’s a good coach, he knows how to get the best out of each
player, and we enjoyed being the Brazilian champions in 2004, and it will be
good to work with him again and I hope to win more titles with him.
*Who inspires you as a player?
It’s difficult to choose only one player in Brazil, there are so many
players I like to watch playing. I have always liked Ronaldo, I have always
wanted to play with him. Pele, the king of football …I like many players but
I couldn’t say that one in particular is my idol, I like different players.
*The press is comparing you a lot with other players, is it hard to be
compared so much?
They compare me a lot with Pele. He played at Santos, Pele is black, we also
play… But Pele is incomparable. I know that it’s very hard to reach the
level he did but I hope to be successful like he was and I also want to be
successful with the Brazilian national team.
*What exactly is “moleque” football?
Moleque football is to play without fear in the middle. Of course it is a
responsibility but I play happily and enjoying myself and that’s the way I
play, I have fun and I hope to keep on playing like that for a long time.
*Are you aware of the example you set for the kids?
I try to offer them a good example. When I was a kid I was always playing
football and now I’m happy that the people like to see me playing football,
especially when they are kids, and that they enjoy watching me play, so I try
to give them a good example, good advice so there might be another Robinho
among them.
