Ruben de la Red Won't Play Next Season

The midfielder still wants to stay and help at Real Madrid, but won't play in
the first team...

Ruben de la Red will stay with Real Madrid next season but he won't play for
the first team at all it has been revealed this afternoon.

The midfielder collapsed on the pitch last October and has not played properly
since as he has undergone extensive tests on his condition.

Even now, more than half a year after the incident, it is not clear whether he
will be able to play again, but he will not play a part for Madrid next year.

Radio Marca reports that De La Red met with Jorge Valdano and Madrid doctors
to discuss the situation this morning and the decision was made that he will
be out for the whole season.

The main reason for this is believed to be so he can have tests every two
months which may help to shed some light on his condition.

Even though he will not be playing for the club he does want to stay with
Madrid though and it is believed he will contribute in other ways.

It seems likely that he could end up coaching one of the teams as he has
already trained and done various coaching courses.
