(Pawtucket, RI) - Brandon Moss (pictured above rounding 3rd base) hammered a
pair of home runs and Travis Hughes notched his 21st save of the season to
establish a new Pawtucket Red Sox record, as the PawSox snuck past Syracuse,
9-7. The PawSox took 3 of 4 during a brief, yet successful homestand. Moss'
homers were his first since June 25. He leads the Sox with 15. Bobby Scales
belted his 9th home run, Jacoby Ellsbury extended his hitting streak to 17
games, 2 shy of tying the Pawtucket record, held by Dave Berg and Dave
Stapleton. In his second game in the I.L., catcher Dusty Brown delivered a
2-run single to win the game. Craig Breslow was the winner to improve to 2-2.
Travis Hughes eclipsed the single season saves mark set by Cory Bailey in
1993. With the win, Pawtucket improves to 62-67 as they head to Buffalo for a
3 game series. Game time on Wednesday is 7:05 p.m. Clay Buchholz faces Jeremy
Sowers.
