Youkilis的運動型疝氣幾乎恢復了，而他在去年11月開始保持肌力。至於屁屁的傷讓他比
較困擾，不過他會繼續努力，希望本季能打滿162場，不要像去年一樣在場邊目睹悲劇。

另外，如果Varitek退休，下個月將滿33歲的Youkilis和老爹是唯二待過2004年紅襪冠軍
隊的紅襪現役球員。

"For us, David and I have definitely gotten a lot closer over the years. It's
one of those things like, 'Man, can you believe we're the only ones left
here?' I guess we've just got to keep that torch going for as many years as
we can."

Valentine對於要不要禁酒，依然不對外透露。

"I decided what I think should happen," Valentine said. "I'm pretty sure we
decided. You just asked if I decided, right? I'm not going to say what I
decided yet. I think the players should hear that first."

Ross Ohlendorf的肩傷正在回復中；Valentine說Aaron Cook上次受傷就是太急著回到場
上所至，因此要讓他慢慢恢復。

“I sent him a message. I said, ‘I don’t know whether to congratulate you
or be sad,’ ’’ Dickey told reporters in Port St. Lucie. “That’s really
how I felt. I’m sure he’s torn, obviously. I had a feeling that if it wasn't
going to be with Boston, that he was going to hang it up.

“I felt like that would be the way that it would end up. I’m sad because I
want him around. It’s fun to be able to watch somebody who does what you do."

8-1 Crawford not ruling out return by Opening Day

    Valentine並不知道尻佛開始練丟球，他看到時叮嚀尻佛不要急；至於什麼時候能開始
    打擊，還是未知數。不過恢復情況還算不錯，可望減少缺陣時間。

8-2 紅襪老闆John Henry在去年10月接受電台採訪時，表示他當時反對簽下尻佛，

尻佛不大爽，他說他很意外聽到這些話，也很難過他這麼認為，很希望這句話不是從Henry
口中說出的。

Henry得知後也不大高興：「我不是針對尻佛，我當時的意見是隊上有太多的左打，最好的
兩位新秀也都是左打。這純粹只是棒球上的抉擇。」

似乎是一場誤會，老闆和尻佛的關係亟需修補。

“Again, this wasn’t about Carl,’’ Henry texted. “At the time I was
opposed due to too many lefties in the lineup and particularly in the
outfield. Also, our two best prospects were both lefthanded hitters.’’

He was right on the money.

There was not an overwhelming reason for signing Crawford when the Sox really
needed a righthanded hitter. And then spending $142 million for a player who
is similar to Jacoby Ellsbury? Seemed like excessive spending.

Henry was right. Yet, as he pointed out, “This was a baseball decision I
ultimately backed it.’’

That’s because his general manager, Theo Epstein and his staff wanted 
Crawford. Henry didn’t stand in the way.
