David Ortiz has earned a reputation as one of baseball's most clutch hitters.

Ortiz has won the award.

In 29 games, Ortiz batted .320 (33-for-103) with 19 runs scored, 29 RBIs, a .670
slugging percentage and a .425 on-base percentage. Ortiz reached base in every
game but two, and reeled off a nine-game hitting streak from Sept. 12-20.

Boston within one game of the first-place Yankees entering the two teams'
season-ending three-game series.
