[注] For Whom the Bell Tolls的歌詞靈感來自海明威小說
《戰地鐘聲（For Whom the Bell Tolls，或譯「喪鐘為誰
而鳴」）》中，薩多（Sordo）等五個紅軍游擊隊員因偷馬
而受困山頂，最後遭到空襲殲滅的情節。
For Whom the Bell Tolls此一書名／標題來自十七世紀英
國詩人John Donne的詩句；《戰地鐘聲》篇頭即援引此詩為
題詞，全詩如下：
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is
a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a
clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less,
as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a
manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any
man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in
mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom
the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.
（無人如同孤島，純然單獨存在；眾人皆為陸地的部分，全
體的份子。若海水沖走一片土壤，大陸便減少，如同損失的
是一方海角，如同損失的是友人或你的莊園：每當有人死去
便減損了我，因我與全人類互相牽絆，所以，不必打聽喪鐘
