高盧戰爭
是西元前58年(凱撒出任山南高盧總督)至前52年間
羅馬共和國對高盧的眾多部族所發動的一系列侵略戰爭，
也是凱撒為了增強自己的實力與威信所發動的遠征。
在過程中，羅馬共和國也曾經入侵不列顛尼亞及日耳曼尼亞，
但並未在這些地區演變為全面入侵戰爭。
此戰爭決定性的高潮在於西元前52年的阿萊西亞之戰，
在此役中獲得完全勝利促使羅馬共和國的國土擴張到高盧全境。(下略)

在這不吉的索恩河岸
局勢早已底定無法逆轉,(一名羅馬人嘲諷著說)
勇氣與榮耀早已失去意義
我們再也不知純真為何物


at somber nightfall the defenseless were bestially run down
saone stained with helvetic blood
you will not shake hands with arrant beliers
you'd rather die than turn into minions
在夜暮低垂時,手無寸鐵者被殘殺
而索恩河水亦被赫爾維帝之血沾染
但你決不會向一名徹底的騙徒握手示好
就是寧死也不願苟活為其奴僕


freedom was our highest good
we ventured our lives
我們的自由無價
不惜賭上性命為其而戰


meet the liar
this dead black night our destiny revealed
meet the enemy
it will ...never be the same
與這騙徒(凱薩)一戰
我們挺身面對一族命運,在這死寂不祥之夜
誓言與仇敵一戰
此戰之後....一切將再也不同

we saw the true face of the roman ravener(註一)
the gorgoneion on the cuirass appeared(註二)
在這滿是凶兆的索恩河岸
局勢早已底定不可逆轉
我們看清了,名為羅馬的渡鴉(強盜)的貪婪真面目
胸甲上的蛇髮女妖圖案已印入我們眼簾


註一:ravener意為強盜,但此處另暗指羅馬帝國的象徵"老鷹",故取raven(渡鴉)之意

註二:直譯的部份,古羅馬及古希臘會於防具上刻上蛇髮女妖的圖騰,
用以表示受到戰神庇祐,借以達到威嚇敵人之用
但此處的原意其實為to show the cloven hoof(惡魔露出一隻蹄子),即"露出狐狸尾巴",
故此句其引申意為
"讓世人看清羅馬(凱薩)的邪惡樣貌"

just... the pieces were made of flesh and of blood
valour and honour bereft of their meaning
the blood on your hands will forever stay
一切如同(凱薩的)一場棋局,
只是棋盤與棋子卻是活生生的血與肉
勇氣與榮耀的意義早已被剝除怠盡
而(凱薩)手中的鮮血將永無洗去之日

註三:ludus latrunculorum:為流傳在古羅馬及古希臘的棋盤遊戲,類似西洋棋
