[外電] Brooks faces another test as Rockets visit Hornets

It’s out of the frying pan and into the microwave for Rockets guard Aaron
Brooks.

這段意思是面對完Parker這個燙手山芋之後,又要面對CP3這個炙手可熱的最佳控衛

After watching Tony Parker of the Spurs sizzle down the stretch Saturday
night, now the challenge is to avoid getting zapped by Chris Paul of the New
Orleans Hornets.

在緊張的星期六面對完Parker的完爆以後,接下來又要面對CP3的挑戰,避免又再被對手
擊潰

“It’s a tough conference,” Brooks said. “The best point guards in the NBA
are in the West. I’ve just got to learn to deal with it.”

"西區是一個十分強硬的區,全NBA最好的控衛都在西區,我才剛剛開始去學怎麼面對他們"

Having been a starter for all of 24 days, Brooks might as well be learning to
juggle chain saws while at a full sprint as the playoffs come rushing toward
him. Which means there are going to be a few painful wounds along the way.

在正式成為先發的這二十四天且將近季後賽的時候, 小AB將要學會怎樣在衝刺的時
候變鏈戲法(意思是上籃的時候不放槍?不太懂). 這意味著這路上可能還會有很多痛楚
要面對

Parker left his share of scars, playing a two-man game with Tim Duncan down
the stretch , slicing up the Rockets with an array of jumpers and backdoor
cuts for layups.

Parker在這個時候補了一刀,和石佛組合打出了一個Two-men Game,以跳投及不停的開後門
底打跨了火箭隊

“That just can’t happen,” coach Rick Adelman said. “Every time (Parker)
goes to Tim, he’s gonna back-cut. Aaron is gonna have to figure that out
when he plays him.

The trouble is the Rockets turned eventually into now when they made the
deadline deal that shipped out Rafer Alston to Orlando and handed the keys to

Accelerated learning
While Brooks had gained valuable experience at the point earlier in the
season, there’s a big difference in being asked to run the show.

“It’s a little bit of a burden,” he said. “This is the role of the
starting point guard, running plays and finishing game and helping us compete
as a team. When we don’t close out games and we’re struggling down the
stretch, it kind of falls on you a little bit.

"這對我來說是個不少的重擔,控衛這個位置,要組織,要得分,也要控制全隊的跑位.在我們
奮鬥的時候,it kind of falls on you a little bit(不懂要怎樣翻...囧)

“It’s been frustrating at times. I’ll be the first to admit that. But I’
ve just got to learn from it. Every game I learn and then I watch tape and
learn some more. I have to figure out what’s going on and what I did wrong.
You’ve got to go through that.

"這是十分沮喪的,這是我第一次承認這樣的事. 但我已經從這種失敗中學習,每一次比賽

“You see Tony and Tim and you watch the way they play together late in the
game and while you’re playing, you’re not thinking, ‘Oh, what about all
the years they’ve been working like that.’ You just think that you’ve got
to stop them at one end and try to play like them on offense at the other end.

“It would be great to hit the fast-forward button and get there. But that
all comes from all the reps they’ve put in. .. They know each other like the
backs of their hands. We’ve just got to speed up my process. Now I’ve got
to go against Chris Paul, and that’s a whole different kind of problem.”

More is expected
While Brooks is settling into his role, he does not fit into the traditional
point guard mold, someone who looks to set the table. Without Tracy McGrady
in the lineup — especially at the end of games — Brooks is the primary
creator. That means he’s going to be more offensive-minded, because that is
what is required of him.

在小AB開始適應這個位置的時候,他卻不是往一個傳統控衛的方向發展.在踢妹不在場上的
時候-特別是比賽最後的關鍵時刻,小AB是進攻的發動機,這意味著他將會更具進攻的企圖

What leaps out are games such as Saturday’s, when Brooks played 31½
 minutes, took 18 shots and did not deal a single assist.

“We all know that McGrady wasn’t right all year,” Shane Battier said. “
But when he was healthy, we could put the ball in his hands, run a
pick-and-roll and he could create at the end of games. That’s where he’s
most valuable.

“We don’t have that. The next closest thing we have is Aaron. He is great

him is to find a way to use his speed to make his people better — find the
3-point shooters, find Yao Ming at home. That’s when the assists come. It’s
part of the maturation process, and you can’t rush it.

“None of the guys in this locker room are going to sit here and berate him
for not being that guy by the time the playoffs start. But no one can jump
into Aaron Brooks’ mind and plant the Steve Nash-Jason Kidd chip in him and
make him into those guys tomorrow. It’s called growing up. It’s called
living.”

Patience on tap

It’s the hand the Rockets have dealt themselves with the decision to change
jockeys in mid-race and place the burden on Brooks.

把控衛這重要的位置在季中交給小AB是火箭自己的決定

“This is new for him to play point guard, and we have to pay attention to
that, be more patient,” Yao said. “I think he still has a lot to learn.

"這對小ab來說是一個新的任務,我們要耐心等等,我想他還有很多東西要學"姚明說

“You know, there’s a risk for everything you did. I mean the trade and
whether you can make adjustments. Also, there could be a surprise waiting for
you. Right now we need to think the positive.”

"做任何事都有一定的風險,我指的是這交易以及我們能不能從這調整過來.這也可能是一
個驚喜,這個時候我們要抱著正面的思想
