Yao Ming was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games
played Monday, March 1 through Sunday, March 7. Lamar Odom of the Miami
heat earned similar honors for the Eastern Conference.

Yao led the Rockets to a 2-1 record during the week, recording wins over
Minnesota and Dallas. Yao, leading the Rockets in points and rebounds in
all three contests, led the Western Conference with 29.7 points per game
for the week and reached 25 points in three consecutive games for the
first time in his career.

Here is a closer look at the week for Yao:


March 3 vs. L.A. Lakers: Scored a game-high 33 points and grabbed eight
rebounds in a 96-93 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

March 5 @ Minnesota: Recorded 27 points, six rebounds and four assists
in a 112-109 win over the Timberwolves.

March 7 vs. Dallas: Had a game-high 29 points on 13-of-19 shooting and
ten rebounds in a 101-98 win over the Mavericks.
