Artest wins the blame game, but there is a solution

Ron Artest blamed himself. Again.
He really is a stand up guy. He is a straight talker.

再一次, 阿泰自己扛下敗戰責任.
他就是那種總是挺身而出, 且有話直說的人.

Artest is completely well-intentioned. He is willing to accept any role,
 including role player around Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady as planned.

阿泰其實完全出於好意. 他願意扮演任何角色, 即使是如季前所計畫的在姚明和
Tmac旁扮演角色球員.

The problem with that is that McGrady has rarely been the McGrady that
Artest planned, and McGrady has not played at all the past three games
(the past four if you count his statue imitation in Miami.)

但問題在於本季Tmac甚少如計畫般擔任該扮演的角色,
Tmac已經連續缺陣了三場比賽(如果把對熱火的比賽納入就是四場).

With the Rockets short-handed and Artest so determined to solve their
every need, he has apparently decided that the Rockets need him to
play as he did for the Kings last season when Kevin Martin was out.
Artest carried that offense and led the Kings to a surprisingly solid season.

隨著火箭人手短缺的問題浮現, 阿泰決定自己解決火箭的所有問題.

This season, however, he is playing more minutes and on a still-sore
right ankle. Far too often, we get dribble, dribble, dribble, force a shot.

If he is alone on a defender, he can be too strong for many.

After his 5 of 18 Sunday in Denver, Artest is making 34.4 percent of
his shots. We're talking about a career 42.2 percent shooter who made
45.3 percent last season. He has failed to make 40 percent only once
in his career and that was his post-suspension half season in Sacramento.
And even then, he shot better than this.

There is a reason Rick Adelman speaks so often about ball movement.
When the Rockets move the ball (Oklahoma City, Orlando, the second
San Antonio game) they can be pretty strong offensively no matter
who is playing. When they don't (Indiana, first San Antonio game)
they can be awful.

He might have started the season deferring to McGrady and Yao,
but he is taking the most shots (14.6 per game) on the team,
more than McGrady (12.9) and more than Yao (12.4).
Averaging 14.8 points per game, he is seventh on the Rockets
in points per minute.

即使阿泰在季初試圖扮演姚明和Tmac的副手. 但他卻占了全隊最多的出手次數.

The solution, however, is clear.

Artest before the game:
"I just play off Yao (Ming) and play the same way I've been playing.
I'll play off Yao and step it up at the end like I always do."

這場比賽我也會如同以往一樣, 讓姚明主導進攻, 並在關鍵時刻挺身而出."

Artest after the game:
"Once again, I kind of threw the game away by not just seeing
the defense the right way."

Go back to playing off teammates, even if McGrady is no more than
a spectator, and Artest will get it going.

解決方法是, 讓其他球員持球主導進攻, 即使Tmac只能在場邊當觀眾.
如此阿泰便可回到正常狀態.

Whether he works around Yao drawing double teams, Rafer Alston's
ball movement or Aaron Brooks' drives, shots will come. Some nights,
he will get on a roll and assume a larger role.
Others, he won't take many shots, but he won't miss many,
either, and can still help the Rockets in so very many ways.

不管是姚明的吸引包夾, 接頭王的轉移球或是小AB的切入, 都能製造空檔.
在某些夜晚, 阿泰會因手感發燙而得到較多進攻機會.
在其他比賽中, 阿泰進攻機會將會減少, 不過這也代表不進球的次數減少,
然而阿泰仍然能在其他方面幫助球隊.

So far, however, it is not what about what he is or not willing to do.
It is that he is trying to do too much.

目前為止, 問題並不是阿泰的角色定位問題或是心態問題,
而是阿泰試圖扛下太多責任.
