‧ Career highlights: Has worked in relief in 222 of 254 career appearances,
                      including all 183 appearances the past four seasons...
                      Has struck out 549 batters in 5061/3 pro innings, but
                      also has walked 296 . . . Was Seattle's minor league
                      co-MVP in 2002 when he was 10-5 with a 3.06 earned-run
                      average at San Antonio.

‧ Personal: Originally signed with Seattle as an eighth-round draft choice
             out of Taft (Calif.) High School in June 1997 . . . Lives in Las
             Vegas in the off-season.

‧ Who had the biggest impact on your career?
             "Ron Romanick, who is with Oakland now, was the roving instructor
              with Seattle when I signed. He worked me on my mechanics and
              helped me get where I am now. He retooled my mechanics. I had a
              good arm, but was all over the place."
