             from Seattle for third baseman Jeff Cirillo on Dec. 15, 2001.

‧ Status: He is battling for the fifth spot in the rotation.

‧ Career highlights: Set the Rockies' record for a starting pitcher with a
                      3.21 earned-run average at Coors Field in 2002 . . .
                      The Rockies have won 18 of the 33 games he has started
                      in two years . . . He is 4-0 and 2.14 ERA in eight career
                      starts with the temperature below 70 degrees.

‧ Personal: Originally signed with Seattle in June 1996 as a fourth- round
             draft choice out of the University of Toledo . . . One of six
             players to score more than 1,000 points for the Edgerton (Ohio)
             High School basketball team . . . Still calls Edgerton his winter
             home, but he spent most of last winter working out in Denver.

‧ Who had the biggest impact on your career?
             "Chris Bosio, who was my pitching coach at (Class AAA) Tacoma
              (Wash.) in 2001. We were very compatible people. He taught me a
              lot about how to pitch and how to go act on and off the field."
