KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (TICKER) —The Kansas City Royals on Tuesday signed
righthanded pitcher Jamey Wright to a minor-league contract for the 2009 season.
Wright, 34, finished 8-7 with a 5.12 ERA in 75 relief appearances for the Texas
Rangers in 2008.
A 13-year veteran who had been a starter his entire career until last season,
Wright is 79-110 in his career with Colorado, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Kansas City
, San Francisco and Texas.
Wright had pitched with the Royals in 2003, posting a 1-2 record with a 4.26
ERA in four starts.
The Royals also announced that pitcher Luke Hudson will not be in major league
camp as he continues to rehab his right shoulder.
