08/26/2006 12:32 AM ET Morris tosses three-hitter at Reds Giants righty goes distance to end seven-start winless streak By Rich Draper / MLB.com SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants right-hander Matt Morris snapped a seven-start winless streak, throwing a complete-game three-hitter in San Francisco's 4-1 victory over Cincinnati on Friday night at AT&T Park. Morris contributed a two-run double in the eighth to break open a 2-1 game. Morris (9-11) hadn't won since topping Philadelphia here on July 17, losing four games with three no-decisions, but after giving up a first-inning homer to Reds slugger Ken Griffey Jr., he blanked the Reds over the next eight frames. Omar Vizquel scored the initial San Francisco run in the first inning when he singled and eventually scored on Barry Bonds' single. First baseman Shea Hillenbrand homered in the third off losing pitcher Aaron Harang (13-9). San Francisco has won four of its last five games and nine of its last 12.
