04/22/2006 11:05 PM ET Bonds hits No. 709 in Giants win Slugger connects on first home run of the season By Rich Draper / MLB.com DENVER -- Giants slugger Barry Bonds resumed his historic chase of Babe Ruth's fabled career 714 home runs by launching his first homer of 2006 -- and 709th lifetime blast -- in San Francisco's 6-4 victory over Colorado at Coors Field on Saturday night. Also hitting their first homers of the season were Omar Vizquel and Ray Durham. Winning pitcher Brad Hennessey (2-0) allowed only five hits over seven innings , but he gave up a solo homer to Brad Hawpe and a three-run shot to Matt Holliday. Left-hander Aaron Cook (1-3) took the loss, yielding 11 hits over six frames and giving up five runs -- three earned. Rich Draper is a reporter for MLB.com.
