The Giants (6-8), winners of five of their last seven games, won both games of the two-game series from St. Louis (6-9), which has lost four in a row. Giants left-hander Noah Lowry (1-2) allowed four hits and both St. Louis runs in seven innings to earn the decision. The Giants hadn't scored at all for Lowry this season until they mustered a pair of fifth-inning runs, tying the score. Ray Durham reached base to open the inning after St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols dropped second baseman Aaron Miles' simple throw. Durham scored on Ryan Klesko's triple. Miles committed a throwing error on Randy Winn's subsequent grounder, but Klesko would have scored regardless. With one out in the sixth, Dave Roberts grounded an infield single and Omar Vizquel walked off St. Louis starter Kip Wells (1-3). Up came Aurilia, who lashed a 2-1 pitch into the left-field corner. After Durham walked and Klesko singled, Winn's sacrifice fly scored Aurilia. Klesko added an RBI double in the eighth inning off Cardinals reliever Brad Thompson.
