The world's number one tennis player Jelena Jankovic is in the centre of
media attention in Switzerland. The Serb told Swiss magazine Blick she was
enjoying her victorious spell and three consecutive WTA trophies.
世界排名一的網球選手JJ是瑞士媒體中心的焦點。塞爾維亞人告訴瑞士雜誌Blick她

Fatigue could prove to be Jelena's biggest rival in Zurich.

- “Before coming to Zurich I had got up at 4.30am, packed my things and left
for the airport. I had very little sleep. Last week it happened to me that my
phone rang early and it was a friend of mine calling. I said I was sorry and
that I couldn’t remember where I was. I’ve covered a lot of mileage, and I
hate flying,” admits Jankovic.

With twelve wins and three trophies in a row Jankovic has silenced her
critics who say she does not deserve to be ranked No. 1.

- “To win one tournament and find yourself on the WTA position number one,
you could call a coincidence. But if you make a string of three wins, that I
think proves my merit. I am currently playing my best tennis and I let my
racquet speak on my behalf.”

Has the fact you have ascended to the WTA top changed you in any way?

- “My friends tell me to remain down-to-earth and not behave like a star.
It's extremely important to me what they have to say. I don’t think I’ve
changed, I’ve kept the same friends and have the same sense of humour. Many
of them see what is happening to me as something surreal. But there are
downsides to all this luxury life. However, if you know how to enjoy tennis
and success, there’s no money to replace that,” says Jelena.

- “I’m often asked whether Ana, Novak and myself are good friends and
stuff. I see it like this: the people of Serbia should be lucky to have
athletes like these. We should respect each other and don’t see each other
as bitter rivals. There’s room for everyone.”

The leader of the women's tour looks forward to the end of the 2008 season
in December.

- “I’m planning to go somewhere where no one knows me and where I won’t be
asked to give autographs or take pictures. I’m going to switch off my
mobile, that I have decided,” says Jelena, who opens her Zurich campaign
with a match against the winner of Nadia Petrova v Flavia Pennetta tie.

- “After the trophy ceremony, the cup stays with the organizer of the
tournament and the name of the new winner is inscribed in the surface of the
trophy. I eventually got my own plate and a diamond-studded watch. Once the
ceremony was over I went to do my favourite thing – get my hair and my nails
done,” says Jelena.
"頒獎典禮後，主辦方留著獎盃然後新贏家的名字會刻在獎盃表面上。我最後拿到
我自己的獎盤和一支鑲鑽的手錶。當典禮結束後我去做我最愛的事 - 做頭髮和指
甲，"JJ說。
