Serbian tennis players in front of the packed stands of the central court
Novak Djokovic overpowered Janko Tipsarevic tonight, 6:2, 4:6, 6:0. For the
first time, Serbian players met in a match in front of the audience in
Belgrade, which filled the stands of the central court of MGM complex.
“It is normal that that I felt the pressure. I played in front of my own
audience and it was not easy. However, it helped me that I played a number of
big matches in the last two years in front of the full stands. There were
many oscillations in my game, but I managed to overcome all of it and enter
the first eight” Novak Djokovic said.
"The dissapointment is there, as I simply had to stop in the second round,
but this is what the draw decided. The match was not bad, there were a few
good points, but in the first place I am disappointed that I did not play the
way I was telling myself to play the whole match, and that was to go after
1:1, 2:2, 3:3, as with the player such as Nole it is difficult to reach a
break. The atmosphere was amazing and both of us had great support“ Janko
Tipsarevic pointed out.
Viktor Troicki passed into quarterfinals, after taking down Spaniard Marcel
Granollers, 6:3, 6:4. “I have been more relaxed today. I felt as though I
was in control of the match. I am very pleased” Troicki stated.
Following the win of Italian Cipola, 1:6, 6:3, 6:1, Cypriot Marcos Bagdatis
fell out in the first round of the tournament. One of the most known names
of the tournament Russian Igor Andreev retired due to a rib injury, thus
securing a victory to Polish qualifier Lukasz Kubot.
Today was also marked with the signing of the five-year contract between
companies Family Sport and HEAD, granting the import of HEAD brand to Family
Sport. The contract was signed by Srdjan Djokovic, Director of Family Sport
and Christoph Nitz, General Director of HEAD International GmbH.
Tomorrow will bring even more exciting matches. Daniel Nestor and Nenad
Zimonjic are stepping out on the court for the first time in the duel against
Marko Djokovic and Darko Madjarovski. Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki
will play a match in the doubles against Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach.
Organizers of the tournament are reminding all citizens that they can visit
sport village and enjoy the activities for the whole family, as well as watch
training sessions of Serbian and international tennis stars.
The quarterfinals of the tournament SERBIA OPEN will provide yet another
Serbian derby in which Viktor Troicki and Novak Djokovic will play against
each other.
